Hiya folks. Remember me?

I'm hoping you're good and distracted, actually. Don't call your Senators or anything, or tell them to keep up the filibuster.

I'm really looking forward to that bright shiny new job waiting for me at the end of all this.

And the bright shiny new war coming right after that. Bank on it.

Go back to sleep now, you hear? Nothing to worry about. Nothing at all. I'll take care of everything.

Keep hating on each other, and there won't be any hate left for me.

See how that works. I thank Cheney every day for the "liberal" press.

17. Reid: No documents, no Bolton
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Senate Democrats will not allow a vote on President Bush's choice for U.N. ambassador unless the White House hands over records of communications intercepts Bolton sought from the secretive National Security Agency, Minority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday.

"You can't ignore the Senate. We've told them what we've wanted. The ball is in his court," Reid, D-Nevada, told CNN. "If they want John Bolton as ambassador to the United Nations, give us this information. If they don't, there will be no Bolton."

But Reid said Bush is responsible for breaking the impasse -- not Democrats.

"The president is obstructing a vote on John Bolton," he said. "We've asked for simple information that Congresses over many decades that we have been in existence have been given by the White House."

I hear that Lieberman and Santorum are getting together for a bipartisan compromise: If the Democrats allow John Bolton to be confirmed, the Republicans will allow the Democrats to vote no on somebody else.

10. The Dems say they have enough votes to prevent cloture
unless the White House coughs up the documents the Dems want. The WH is stonewalling, presumably because there is damaging stuff in those documents that would kill the nomination dead. And so, they filibuster until one side blinks. That's why no vote yet.

You about made me choke.

You are correct, of course, that we must remember ALL of the important things that we should be working on DAILY. The thing is, we are being bombarded with numerous critical issues at once, so it is easy to put some things on the back burner that we should be continuing to apply pressure to, never mind those distractions that get our panties in a bunch.

What would you think about proposing to Skinner, a new feature on the homepage that is a checklist of sorts, of all of the issues that require DUing. I don't know what to call it, maybe 'On-going Action Checklist'. It would serve to remind us, as we take action in our letter writing, phone calls, handbills, or other actions, that there are several important issues that need our attention, not just the hot topic of the day. For instance, the rethugs are trying not only to make the unPatriot Act permanent, they are looking to add more to it, thus taking more of our civil liberties from us, and this issue is not getting very much of our attention.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. And yes, thank you for the reminder, I will remember to multi-task. :)
