1. Well that's a bit of a push poll.
I'm glad that the constitution wasn't so badly ruptured. That's as much as I'm willing to venture.

6. This poll is for entertainment purposes only.
It should not be construed as a scientific poll. (Phew! Almost forgot the disclaimer! :toast: )

2. Ask me when some SCOTUS noms come down the pipe

Taken in isolation, I think having Brown and Pryor among others on the bench is beyond tragic.

5. That's the key.
Many people do not understand that constitutional rights are far more pristine and precious when we do not use them. The average American would soil the Bill of Rights itself, by exercising it. Surely this is not what the Floundering Fathers in Washington DC today intend.

10. I don't think we should even say
"First Amendment." Only our erected leaders are properly trained, and can safely say magic words such as these. The peasants really aren't supposed to.

11. Only in an emergency determined by the moderates in the Senate
should we use it. You're right, brother. :patriot:

9. All I see is that so far ...
three unqualified ideologues have been confirmed to courts where they will perpetrate their rightwing activism for decades to come.

16. Extreme circumstances.
Not even god knows what that means. It's as stupid as using a bandaid to reattach an amputated limb.

13. They didn't "save" the filibuster and I'm not glad.
What they did do, was make the filibuster non-usable, and give cover to the Chamberlain Dems who now will "save" it for unexplained "extraordinary circumstances" that will never come.

But, it's "victory". Just ask Owen and Brown.

14. a filibuster that can't be used . . . kinda like a car you can't drive . .
and there's nothing to stop BushCo from initiating the "nuclear option" again whenever they feel like it . . . e.g. when the next Supreme Court vacancy opens up . . .

they got what they wanted . . . we got bupkus . . .

17. I am...
If they had not, the judges would have still been appointed but without any opposition in the future. Yes, they have appointed two or three judges that should not have been appointed but judges have been appointed before that should not have been appointed..remember Clarence Thomas?

It was not a magic bullet. It was only a shot across the bow of a White House intent on total domination. The few "moderates" in the middle will have to give them pause before they go off the deep end, in my opinion. Overall, I think it was a better decision than to have done away with the filibuster completely at this time.. But, I could be wrong on that. :)
