Just thought I would let people know that it was gone for now in case it decides to stay gone during the current firestorm.

Web server named "" not found.

Trying to contact site at "63.219.143.152" . . . .
Server contacted!

Still can't reach site from this computer.
Maybe the site is down. Trying another route . . . .

The arrogant bastards told us what their plans were, shouldn't be a surprise to anyone on this board. Hope someone can re-mirror the entire contents of that site so that new people, wanting to learn more about PNAC, can find it.

24. I copied a lot of stuff about 6 mo ago when there was a similar alert
Maybe this time it really is down--because this started Friday night. And if it's still down, hmmm. I gave up trying to copy it all (started but got interrupted and then didn't finish)--but besides the big pdfs and some other Iraq stuff, I copied all the Asia-related stuff (but not the most recent, alas).

Did nobody mirror the site? Or can't that be done without the original site's permission? I did try yesterday to go to the Google mirror (or whatever it's called), and it was impossible.

On reflection, isn't it rather stupid to do something so blatant as to take down the site just now when it will look the most suspicious?

35. Fallout from Ron Paul Speech?
"It is no secret—especially after the rash of research and articles written about the neocons since our invasion of Iraq—how they gained influence and what organizations were used to promote their cause. Although for decades, they agitated for their beliefs through publications like The National Review, The Weekly Standard, The Public Interest, The Wall Street Journal, Commentary, and the New York Post, their views only gained momentum in the 1990s following the first Persian Gulf War—which still has not ended even with removal of Saddam Hussein. They became convinced that a much more militant approach to resolving all the conflicts in the Middle East was an absolute necessity, and they were determined to implement that policy.

In addition to publications, multiple think tanks and projects were created to promote their agenda. A product of the Bradley Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) led the neocon charge, but the real push for war came from the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) another organization helped by the Bradley Foundation. This occurred in 1998 and was chaired by Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol. They urged early on for war against Iraq, but were disappointed with the Clinton administration, which never followed through with its periodic bombings. Obviously, these bombings were motivated more by Clinton’s personal and political problems than a belief in the neocon agenda.

The election of 2000 changed all that. The Defense Policy Board, chaired by Richard Perle, played no small role in coordinating the various projects and think tanks, all determined to take us into war against Iraq. It wasn’t too long before the dream of empire was brought closer to reality by the election of 2000 with Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld playing key roles in this accomplishment. The plan to promote an “American greatness” imperialistic foreign policy was now a distinct possibility. Iraq offered a great opportunity to prove their long-held theories. This opportunity was a consequence of the 9-11 disaster."

Type in Iraq and you will find lots of documents.

on edit: never mind, they just point back to the original site and are all broken. The links on the left do work however. I was able to get lots of documents that way.

34. Maybe it doesn't disappear, but it will be hard to figure out
what was there originally. I just tried out your links, and the "What's New" index is over a year out of date. And when I tried to get a pdf, it wasn't archived yet (but it was over a year old). Then when I tried to get some project memos (I skipped the WP editorials--stuff from elsewhere on the web), they say it may be there, but has to be searched for. So, if someone hasn't got this all organized with indices, and up to date, it may be VERY hard to reconstruct. Well, for me, anyway. I'm quite a web neophyte.

I hope I'm wrong. Or maybe we're all wrong, and the site will pop back up tomorrow??

30. They are hosted by CAIS.COM --
Edited on Sun Jul-13-03 10:12 PM by Melinda
"Capital Area Internet Service" in DC.

They also own cais.net. I whois'd em last night, then tried a trace and a ping on their servers - no go.

Looks like the entire IP is down, so it follows that PNAC would be 404.

I really need them. If you do, please PM me ASAP. I will be seeing Gov. Dean at a small fundraiser for Jan Schakowsky's PAC and want to give him these letters because the head of the DLC's think tank signed both of these letters.

Thanks,

39. HUBRIS and now panic
Remember just months ago The PNAC roadshow fanned out hitting the various news outlets to "reassure" us that they weren't some spooky group, just harmless theoreticians?

Now from the anti PNAC website: n (pnac.info)
(NOTE: The PNAC website is apparently down. You can find a backup copy of "Rebuilding America's defenses" here.)

So it's been saved all over the place. This sure smells like panic to me

44. From my PNACREVEALED website....
I wrote the "Editors Note" several months ago... Here's a snip...

OK, so let's repeat a couple of facts here.

Number one: The plan to take out Saddam Hussein was hatched long before 9/11. If you don't believe that then have fun reading my web site for ample proof.

Number two: A Bush Administration that was heavily influenced by a group of neo-conservatives from think-tanks like the PNAC lied to the American public about why we had to go to war with Iraq.

http://pnacrevealed.com/editors.htm

Ya see...this is what I marvel at with regards to this whole Niger deal.... Little old Trumad, with very little resources, figured out last year that the Bush Admin lied to get us into war with Iraq!

16 words my ASS!
