Bush Says More Funding for Africa "Doesn't Fit Our Budget Process"
snip from Washington Post article:

Bush rebuffed British Prime Minister Tony Blair's efforts to persuade the world's wealthiest nations to double aid to Africa. Blair, who is scheduled to meet with Bush in Washington next week, wants to raise an additional $50 billion per year to help African nations.

"It doesn't fit our budgetary process," Bush said.

What an a*s Bush is! More funding for Africa doesn't fit his "budget process?" I think instead of process, he should have said priority. Because that's what he meant--more funding for Africa is not his priority (or interest).

2. first of all...that comment doesn't make any sense whatsoever
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 05:33 PM by noiretblu
and there were some more interesting tidbits in that article...the bushbot on Mubarak and elections in Eqypt:

"He publicly stated he's for free and fair elections, and now is the time for him to show the world that his great country can set an example for others," Bush told reporters. "He assured me that that's just exactly what he wants to do."

But a day earlier police in Cairo violently broke up demonstrations by an opposition group known as the Egyptian Movement for Change. "People ought to be allowed to vote without being intimidated; people ought to be allowed to carry signs and express their displeasure or pleasure," Bush said.

"People ought to have every vote count."

:grr: too bad he didn't mention that in 2000.

3. I think it makes complete sense
What he was saying, without really saying it, was that Africa is not a priority of his, and that's why it's not a priority within his budget.

And oh yea, the making every vote count quote definitely got my attention too!!!!

What a bastard he is! He has absolutely ZERO moral authority on free and fair elections and making every vote count.

9. Exactly right! And here's the thing....
You can always tell what a President's priorities are....by their budget. They can talk til the cows come home about what their priorities are.....but if it isn't in their budget, it's not a priority.

So, I think it's self-explanatory how Bush feels about Africa.

11. Its diplomatic speak for "Don't ask and we won't say 'no'."
Bush is pissed off that the left won the british elections... he so
wanted more partners in crime... so to punish the british labour anti-war
voters, he's happy to scuttle any goodwill the country is putting
together for africa.

Then the brits can blame blair and fire the bastard... and bush'll
hope the resultant follower is even less electable so he can get his
beloved wanker torys in to office to suck his dick for him.

16. He is just out to scuttle the Perthshire G8 meeting where others want
"Africa & debt relief" to be on the table. It was supposed to happen in Halifax and then Calgary. But cowboy George rides into town with an agender (like asmar) of his own and stops any discussion that he doesn't want. Just like they do with trade talks when trade talks don't go their way.

culture of life? My ass!

This is just to get ahold of the issues before G8.

18. "It doesn't fit our budgetary process,"
to continue a war in Iraq.

Start a war with Iran or Syria.

Start another war with North Korea.

To fill the pockets of Haliburton.

To let drug companies make obscene profits.

To let insurance companies deny medical benefits.

To fund education.

To fund veteran hospitals.

To reduce the national debt.

To let hunger and homelessness exist in this country.
