The Daily Show all but reported Bush-Saudis behind 911
no mention in the other TDS thread.

I forget the author but it was a book about the secrets of the saudi kingdom. went over how the 3 princes were assassinated after a scare about tracing it back to the saudis.

4. Wasn't that amazing! I sat there stunned!
My husband has always said I was crazy for saying the Bush's were behind 911- I am going to make him watch TDS tomorrow!! I didn't catch the authors name either.

On a different subject- I just took a 4 month break from DU (and everything political) because it was either that or I was going to have to go on some kind of antidepressant. I got way too wrapped up in the recount. This is my first post break post. It feels good to be back- I missed DU!

It is good to be back. I will be taking more breaks b/c I have realized that another four years would have killed me if I stayed as involved as I was for the election and recount.

Did I miss anything?

22. Yeah, lizzie, you did. A hell of a lot of grieving and griping; but,
we survived. Glad you're back.

9. Very wary of Posner.
I remember when he was peddling "Case Closed" about the Kennedy assassination. In appearances, he basically said that Oswald did it because 'my computer said so.'

Don't know what his angle is this time, but I'd be slow to believe anything he says. He seems to be some kind of double-double-disinformationist.

11. I don't trust Gerald Posner at all.
Before the Iraq War, he described Americans opposed as pro-Saddam and indifferent to national security.

Posner strongly suggested that Iraq had wmd.

23. here is a link to the Gerald Posner article I'm referring to
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=6444

"But today’s peaceniks, who seem to be more interested in protecting Saddam than in trying to prevent the massive loss of life on American soil if terrorists get their hands on weapons of mass destruction, are playing with much more dangerous consequences."

something....but he seems to be an insider.

they are known to throw the opposition a bone periodically to keep us from getting too upset and to apply a layer of BS on the thin veneer of free speech.

21. Hell, I Think Oswald Did It Without Reading Posner's Book
Not everybody believes there was a conspiracy; in fact, a great many people do not believe in it. I realize that that makes it even more credible to those who do believe in one, but that is not convicing evidence.

As in, "Case Closed," Gerald Posner?

'Cause if so--well, that's not the most trustworthy of sources.

16. My sentiments exactly
I remember the smarmy fuck in the lead-up to the war on CNN telling us what a threat Saddam was. I will never trust this guy after the fairy tale he wrote about the Kennedy Assassination - John Sr. that is.

I heard a rerun of him being interviewed on Morning Sedition and I was all excited about getting the book until I found out who that interesting speaker was. He was saying something about how the Saudis have their oil fields rigged to blow up if anything happens to House of Saud. Could explain why we haven't 'democratized' them yet. It is, after all, all about the O, and I'm not talking about orgasms or overstock.com.

I'd like to be able to give him the benefit of the doubt, but this has disinformation written all over it.

can get to a guest who will speak openly about 9/11, I am not impressed. Maybe if Posner hadn't dirtied up his reputation with readers who, you know, have brains, with "Case Closed" and his other works, and maybe if THIS interview hadn't contained a lot of scary, bigoted remarks about Saudis, he might have had a shot at convincing me there was some grain of truth to anything he was saying--beyond the obvious observation that the U.S. needs to stop being dependent on oil, and could start by ceasing to consume so goddamn much of it.

And also, though this isn't the most important reason to not take him that seriously, if Posner's statements and material didn't make me suspicious enough about him--all the plastic sugery he's had, and tonight I noticed that it appears he's gotten himself some nice cheek implants, would alone be enough to make me look twice at him. Yikes. The man looked like he does MJ impersonations on the side.

20. I read "Case Closed"
I went in totally believing in a conspiracy and left believing Oswald acted alone. And yes, I do have a brain. I'm not saying he's got it nailed now, or even with his JFK book for that matter. All I can tell you is he made a very convincing case.

19. The guy's a wacko.
Posner's last book blamed 9/11 on Clinton; I did a search on him and one of the first items to pop up was a bunch of stuff from Newsmax. They're selling his books.
