What a……Loathsome pile of Sith…!
Finally took my 4 ½ year old boy to see this hideous beast!

Big, digital battle scenes as boring and tedious as they were in I & II.
Redundant dialog as bad or worse..acting barely tolerable…logic and physics laughable!!

But…Lucas goes on 60 minutes to tell how dark and violent this is…don’t take little ones.
Then, when the word spreads, possibly curtailing attendance, the commercials suddenly spout a voice-over worthy of “Sesame Street!” Cutesy tie-ins with Burger King and LEGO!
The protagonist/anti-hero of this crap-fest butchers children (called younglings for our sensitive ears-thanks for nothin’ jerk)….! Cruelty and sadism…our new family values!
Somebody needs to crack Lucas’ merchandising machine over his head! What an amoral b*stard!!!

Most disturbing moment: Looking around the theater at so many fat people eating so much popcorn! Look out Al Qaeda, the Force (of mass) is with us!
:puke:

1. See that big sign where it says "Rated PG-13"?
That should be a sign that it's not intended for 4 1/2 year olds.

6. The ratings are there for a purpose. Insulting me doesn't change that.
Edited on Mon May-30-05 03:15 PM by ET Awful
If you don't want your child to view material that is too mature for him, pay attention to the ratings and don't take him to movies with more mature ratings.

It's nobodys fault but yours that you ignored the rating.

Did you think the movie was going to magically change because of merchandising tie-ins? Did you think that Lucas was giving you an idle warning and he was going to re-edit the movie immediately after so as to please you?

3. Most disturbing part of your post: Your tolerance for fat people - NOT.
It's none of your business what anyone else in the theater (or anywhere ELSE for that matter) is eating.

Gratuitous fat bashing is not a liberal value.

16. Gratuitous: not called for by the circumstances
You were reviewing a movie. Referring to the audience's eating habits was not called for as part of a review, and is totally irrelevant. You just took the opportunity to take a cheap shot.

I'm NOT your or anyone else's "buttercup", and if you're around here, we expect you're liberal or progressive.

Enjoy your stay.

5. What possessed you to bring a 4 year old to Star Wars?
And BTW, did you ever stop to think our own government resembles the Dark Side so much these days that Star Wars should be required viewing for every sheeple too stupid to realize Lucas and MANY others have been attempting to turn lazy Americans into patriots capable of realizing that THEY are "the force" that will HAVE to take care of the world?

I am really NOT a Star Wars fan, but I have to say the message has ALWAYS rung loud and clear in my ears from those movies. The same message can be found in the Bible. I don't need Star Wars to motivate me, but some people might.

A 4 year old doesn't belong at that movie though, for sure.

10. logic and physics laughable...
Edited on Mon May-30-05 03:29 PM by impeachdubya
as opposed to the clear logic and iron-clad physics in, say, the Original Star Wars???

Jesus. Yeah, everyone's a critic. Well, I enjoyed the hell out of the movie. I also think it makes some good points about how sometimes the people responsible for the worst atrocities in the world are the ones convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that they're on the "right" side. Sure, the acting is weak in spots (it is STAR WARS, after all), but the action was mind-blowing and continuous.

If you'd been paying attention to the storyline at all, you might have used some of that logic you're so enamored with to deduce that Anakin Skywalker doesn't go all Darth Vader without becoming a bit of a bastard.

Amazing. You bitch about the bad habits of Americans... but I think one of the WORST habits people have nowadays is parents who blithely take their kids to movies that, say, are rated PG-13, totally ignoring what they may have heard about the content, and then blame the FILMMAKERS when they don't feel the flick is appropriate for their little ones. Sheesh.

14. ummm the ties ins have nothing to do with the movie
Legos and Star Wars have been married a long time and Any movie of star wars size would tie in with a happy meal.

So to say that the tie ins relate to a possible curtail of audience (ummm did you see last week's figures) is a laughable feat of logic yourself.

Ummmm and then the coup de tate is that you lash out against the sheep seeing the movie?

Oh wait, you went to teh movie yourself. . .baaaaaaa

17. Possibly my Favorite Star Wars movie ....
I heard the scathing reviews ...

I heard of the poor acting and dialogue: but what else is new in a SW movie ? ... As far as I can tell: THIS movie had about as good as it gets for a SciFi work ....

I thought the movie did WELL by setting up movie one, the original star wars, and bringing the second trilogy full circle to the first ... and helping us understand HOW and WHY Obi Wan, Yoda and Vader were locked into the first war, and why they represented each side as they did ....

I FULLY enjoyed Revenge Of The Sith, perhaps because I didnt expect much from it ....

I walked in thinking this was why I watched the other five movies, and walked out thinking..not even one surprise!

But what should I expect after watching the second trilogy first?

21. The path toward the dark side
is not something joyful to watch. Having seen all the other Star Wars movies and knowing the story before buying your ticket you should have known what to expect. If you want to keep a child from watching a story such as this one then don't take them to see it.

As for older children, perhaps they will benifit from seeing a fictional tale of how easily individuals and societies can be corrupted.

It sounds as if you have a lot of anger built up inside. Beware the dark side.
