Conservative Media Bias Called 'Matter of Life and Death'
Randy Hall
Staff Writer/Editor

(CNSNews.com) - Conservative bias in the American news media is "not simply a matter of taste, but of life and death," a panel of liberal radio talk show hosts and representatives of leftist organizations told a group of Democrats last week.

"There is no more urgent problem facing America today," stated Mark Lloyd, senior fellow at the Center for American Progress (CAP), one of 10 panelists who spoke on "Media Bias and the Future of Freedom of the Press."

The forum was chaired by U.S. Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, and focused on what Lloyd called "ideological distortion" that is "built into the current system."

Steve Rendall, senior analyst for Fairness Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR), told Cybercast News Service that Republicans and several conservative talk show hosts were invited, but did not attend.

5. Whoa-- I'm blown away!!

But is this website a "normal" Christian website (which would explain it)? I'd be surprised if it were an evangelical website (of the Falwell variety)!!!

Just looked at the website more closely-- it doesn't seem to be of the extreme right variety, though I could be wrong. I notice there's an article or two about Falwell that are definitely not complimentary.

6. Here is their mission statement:
As a Christ-centered, for-profit corporation, we will create value for our customers, employees and shareholders by:

Bringing glory to God in all that we do;
Equipping people to grow in their faith and the practical application of it in their lives;
Enhancing fellowship, communication and relationship-building within the Christian community; and
Encouraging and enabling personal involvement in the care of those who are spiritually, emotionally, physically or financially poor.

9. I would say they are conservative
perhaps the conservative version of sojourners.net., rather than fundamentalist.

Still, great to see them reporting this. :thumbsup:

8. I saw that-- not sure what to make of it. Doesn't sound extreme...

That is, for a Christian website, I'd expect a mission statement such as that. But what do I know? I'm pretty clueless about organized religion, to be honest. Especially in these times.

:puke:
"Conyers held a similar conservative bashing forum shortly after President Bush's re-election last November, in which an entirely liberal group of speakers advanced theories that Republicans had stolen the 2004 election."

Oh, and THIS:

But Tim Graham, director of media analysis for the conservative Media Research Center, parent organization of Cybercast News Service, said there's a problem with Rendall's remarks.

<snip>

"The last thing we would ever do insist there is absolutely no evidence or no data that the media has ever in the history of America favored a conservative point of view," Graham added.

WHAT a disingenuous jackass. "The last thing we would ever do...." Why, for two days back in 1849 there were three reports that denegrated liberals! See, we're fair! We're balanced!

Again, pardon me while I :puke:
