TIP: How to avoid registering at a gazillion web sites
Many threads have links to articles at web sites that require you to register before you can read the article. When you hit a registration screen, open up another browser window, go to

http://bugmenot.com/

and paste in the URL from the registration window. You will see ID/password combinations to get around the registration issue.

3. What's so scary about registering at a newspaper/newsource website?
.... I do it all the time using a special email and I have never received spam to that email.

5. It's time consuming
if I want to read one article from the Springfield Shopper somebody's linked to it's a pain to spend five minutes registering. Besides, a lot of registrations require information about income, where one lives, etc that I don't feel like sharing. I'm going to lie to protect my privacy anyhow, so it's a lot faster to just use bugmenot to sidestep the whole rigamarole.

Most of the time if I have to register and can't use bugmenot I don't read the article.

6. How is it less time consuming to go to bugmenot.com and
type in a URL and get a id/password combo (that might or might not work) and then go back to the original news site? I just go to the site and type in my id/password (or if I haven't wiped my cookies out....I just go directly to the article).

I don't use bugmenot because it IS too time consuming. I don't want to waste my time.

As for the privacy factor, if someone wants to use what articles I read against me....let'em try....I'm not scared.

9. not really
Open a new browser window, select the "registration" URL, copy it (Ctrl-C) & paste (Ctrl-V) that string into bugmenot. No typing involved.
