Ted Olson! A potential U.S. Supreme Court nominee?
Edited on Sun May-29-05 08:18 PM by leftchick
In retrospect this really is not a surprise but...oh God, wake me when this is over... :banghead:

4. She's was alleged to be on a plane...
...that was alleged to hit the Pentagon.

I've seen no proof of any of that, though.

24. His wife being on the plane is the only reason
I believe that plane hit the Pentagon.

NOBODY with any other theories has come up with what happened to the people on that flight including Ted's Wife!!!!!!

Despite the bolding and exclaimation points, the fact that no one has proved what happened to those folk doesn't make true the official thesis.

College Logic 101 would serve this country well.

6. Yes. Very sad. She was in the plane that hit the Pentagon. I never
liked Barbara Olson; she was a "conservative commentator" and one of the worst, imo. Still, the loss of any human life is a tragedy.

And Ted Olson would be a NIGHTMARE on the Supreme Court!

:scared:

was effective (as opposed to deranged). The neocons lost alot when they lost her voice. A kool-aid drinker with previous career experience as a ballerina. She was dangerous because she seemed so reasonable.

Think of her family. Very sad 9/11 was for them.

Yes - scary that his name is mentioned. I still say there must be about 13 neocons all-together. They don't seem to have depth which is why they keep re-cycling.

And it seems the WH cannot fill major positions in terrorism & press departments. You know - people whose job is 'information'.

Hmmmmmmmm I wonder why? Could it be working with neocons will be the kiss of death for anyone with a future career in mind?

20. Don't need neocons on the court as long as they've got fundies who
will work with them. No shortage of those folks in the pipeline.

25. Perhaps I am optimistic that the kool-aid only goes so far. I was
being sardonic by saying 13. Of course there are more than that. But they do seem to be recycling and having trouble finding 'like minded' individuals.

Never mind that he changed the story later.

10. Don't think they wouldn't remind us of that, either.
Condi and Alberto have their "inspiring life stories" that somehow qualify them. Olsen would be put forward as someone whose great personal sacrifices somehow qualify him for the Supreme Court.

The thing about Olsen is he argued for the right of a president to detain US citizens indefinitely (the Padilla case). If he would make this argument, which the Supremes shot him down on, he's not fit for the Supreme Court. Not now. Not ever.

12. Are you confusing the Supreme Court w/ the Attorney General?
Gonzales is the U.S. Attorney General. Appointing Olson to the Supreme Court would have nothing to do with Gonzales. As Justice Rehnquist suffers from a serious form of cancer, it is very likely there will be at least one opening soon.

11. I felt sorry for Ted Olson when his wife died UNTIL...
...he stated shortly afterward that he felt publishing her latest Clinton-bashing book was the "right thing" and "what she would have wanted." This was at a time when we were urged to come together as a nation, blah, blah, blah...

. . . for awhile. I've been hearing his name from conservative lawyers since Bush was elected and appointed him Solicitor General.

I've heard his name a LOT more than Ken Starr's.

got the job done in 2000 for Bush. Of course the Supremes probably did not even need to hear what Ted had to say, but it gave them a little cover.

:wtf: I'm not a conspiracy theorist and I don't believe in MIHOP, but I saw his interview with Larry King the NIGHT of 9-11 and he wasn't the least bit choked up about hs wife dying. Not only that, she was supposed to appear on Bill Maher's show that Friday night and was going to fly out a night earlier, but since it was big Ted's birthday on 911, she decided to stay behing for a later flight--the flight that killed her.
Geeze...in 40 years the truth will be known, but for now we have to weed our way through this shit.

..."Think about it, people! If you knew or suspected your spouse’s aircraft had just fireballed inside the Pentagon building, how would you spend the rest of the day? Initially you would certainly be in deep shock and unwilling to believe the reports. Then you would start to gather your wits together, a slow process in itself. After that and depending on individual personality, you might drive over to the Pentagon on the off chance your spouse survived the horrific crash, or you might go home and wait for emergency services to bring you the inevitable bad news. As a matter of record, Ted Olson did not return to work until six days later.

About the last thing on your mind , would be to pick up a telephone and call the CNN Atlanta news desk in order to give them a “scoop”. As a seasoned politician you would already know that all matters involving national security must first be vetted by the National Security Council. Under the extraordinary circumstances and security overkill existing on September 11, this vetting process would have taken a minimum of two days, and more likely three.
Th

The timing of the CNN news release about Barbara Olson, is therefore as impossible as the New Zealand press release back in 1963 about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. As reported independently by Colonel Fletcher Prouty USAF (Retired), whoever set Kennedy up, accidentally launched a full international newswire biography on obscure “killer” Lee Harvey Oswald, without first taking the trouble to check his world clock.

It was still “yesterday” in New Zealand on the other side of the International Date Line when the biography was wired from New York, enabling the Christchurch Star newspaper was able to print a story about Oswald as the prime suspect in its morning edition, several hours before he was first accused of the crime by Dallas police.

If the CNN story about Ted Olson had been correct, and he really had called them about Barbara on September 11, then he would most surely have followed the telephone call up a few days later with a tasteful “one-on-one” television interview, telling the hushed and respectful interviewer about how badly he missed his wife, and about the sheer horror of it all.

There is no record of any such interview in the CNN or other archives. Indeed, if you key “Barbara Olson” into the CNN search engine, it returns only two related articles. The first is the creative invention on September 12 at 2.06 am EDT <0606 GMT>, and the second is on December 12, about President Bush, who led a White House memorial that began at 8:46 a.m. EST, the moment the first hijacked plane hit the World Trade Center three months before. CNN includes this comment about Ted Olson:...more..."
