America, the land of the free & home of the brave, & don't ever forget it
despite whatever tough times we're going through lately.

Yeah, maybe a large percentage of the population is "stupid", but America is still worth all the frustrations and ups & downs we're experiencing....and it's better than any other options I'm aware of.

Never give up!

The exact same people...
Who loudly complained that Clinton/Reno were going to strip us of our personal privacy rights and lead this nation off of a cliff are now supporting everything that this administration is doing to just strip our rights away from us.

If you aren't scared, you just aren't paying attention.

Most people are not paying attention.

5. Exactly.
And the sad thing is, we wont know the extent of the damage this administration has done until, I'd say by 2050.

It's horrible what the fundies have done to this country and no one is admitting to their actions *COUGH* Delay *COUGH*.

2. I recall from reading my history books that the Germans said the....
...exact same thing after the Nazis took over in 1934.

3. Saw a tee-shirt
in the early eighties that seems to fit these times even better.

"If America is no longer the Land of the Free,
I sure hope it's still the Home of the Brave."

4. We spend more on "defense" than the rest of the world ...
put together. That's not exactly brave.

Almost 60 million voted for Bush and his war but expect other people to fight it. Military recruiting is in crisis. That's not brave either.

We have a long way to go to restore his Nation and you are correct that we can never give up. I hope we can start rebuilding before a total collapse. But I fear a total collapse might be what it takes to get the mind numb portion of the population convinced that letting corporations run the country is not a good idea.

6. That is just jingoistic hubris. America is not specifically brave in
comparison to other countries. In fact quite the opposite. It is a meaningless phrase in every sense because america is neither free nor brave, and is a blatant attempt at furthering the myth of uniqueness in the world.

I see real bravery across the world in places like Burma, China, and Zimbabwe where people are languishing in jail or dead for standing up to the state to demand their freedom.

I see bravery in Africa where people still keep their dignity through unimaginable poverty and disease.

I see bravery in the Ukraine, Georgia, Uzbeckistan, Kyrgistan, where people were prepared to stand up to Tyrants at great risk to theior own lives (and the whole of Eastern Europe throughout the collapse of the Soviet Union.)

I see bravery in Russian journalists, 200 of which have been murdered in recent years for standing up to corrupt power and championing democracy in the face of threats to their life.

I see absolutely none of that in America. I see people complaining, while sitting in the most comfortable country on the planet, attitude without the action.

The neo-cons would be over joyed to hear this propaganda. It simply isn't true.
