Know your BFEE: Merchants of Death
In honor of our nation’s fallen heroes – the men and women who gave their lives to protect our nation, its Constitution and our liberty – a reminder of who on Memorial Day 2005 uses our armed forces for their very own money making cash cow. For at least four generations, the Bush Family Evil Empire has made money off war. For them, Big Death means Big Money.

During World War I:

During Vietnam:

Averell Harriman, business associate of Prescott Bush (a Senator, father and grandfather to the two presidents Bush), was the catalyst for America’s involvement in the disastrous Vietnam War. The historical record shows Harriman OK'd the assassination of South Vietnamese President Diem. America's right wing has long-tried to smear President John F. Kennedy for that murder.

Today, we can see it for what it was:

Harriman Bush Yakuza

Who changed the coup into the murder of Diem, Nhu and a Catholic priest?

From The Secret History of the CIA by Joseph Trento"

Who changed the coup into the murder of Diem, Nhu and a Catholic priest accompanying them? To this day, nothing has been found in government archives tying the killings to either John or Robert Kennedy. So how did the tools and talents developed by Bill Harvey for ZR/RIFLE and Operation MONGOOSE get exported to Vietnam? Kennedy immediately ordered (William R.) Corson to find out what had happened and who was responsible. The answer he came up with: “On instructions from Averell Harriman…. The orders that ended in the deaths of Diem and his brother originated with Harriman and were carried out by Henry Cabot Lodge’s own military assistant.”

Having served as ambassador to Moscow and governor of New York, W. Averell Harriman was in the middle of a long public career. In 1960, President-elect Kennedy appointed him ambassador-at-large, to operate “with the full confidence of the president and an intimate knowledge of all aspects of United States policy.” By 1963, according to Corson, Harriman was running “Vietnam without consulting the president or the attorney general.”

The president had begun to suspect that not everyone on his national security team was loyal. As Corson put it, “Kenny O’Donnell (JFK’s appointments secretary) was convinced that McGeorge Bundy, the national security advisor, was taking orders from Ambassador Averell Harriman and not the president. He was especially worried about Michael Forrestal, a young man on the White House staff who handled liaison on Vietnam with Harriman.”

At the heart of the murders was the sudden and strange recall of Sagon Station Chief Jocko Richardson and his replacement by a no-name team barely known to history. The key member was a Special Operations Army officer, John Michael Dunn, who took his orders, not from the normal CIA hierarchy but from Harriman and Forrestal.

According to Corson, “John Michael Dunn was known to be in touch with the coup plotters,” although Dunn’s role has never been made public. Corson believes that Richardson was removed so that Dunn, assigned to Ambassador Lodtge for “special operations,” could act without hindrance.

1. A song for the Bush dynasty:

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

5. For bad reason Bush called Iraq War America's "Golden Moment."
Gee. He is nuts. Or really smart.

What else the commandeer-n-chimp said the other day...

President Discusses War on Terror at Naval Academy Commencement

Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium
Annapolis, Maryland

10:12 A.M. EDT

THE PRESIDENT: Thanks for the warm welcome. Secretary England, Admiral Clark, General Nyland, Vice Admiral Rempt, Captain Leidig, Dr. Miller, members of the Board of Visitors, Lieutenant Governor Steele and Congressman Hoyer, distinguished faculty, distinguished guests, proud parents, family, friends, and, most of all, graduating midshipmen of the Class of 2005, I'm honored to be here. (Applause.)

And I am proud to stand before the future leaders of the Navy and Marine Corps, and to celebrate the occasion, I thought I would bring along a small graduation gift. Too late to give you a "Staubach Day," -- so I'll do the next best thing: In keeping with long-standing tradition, I hereby absolve all midshipmen who are on restriction for minor conduct offenses. (Laughter and applause.) I leave it to Admiral Rempt to define exactly what "minor" means. (Laughter.)

SNIP...

Sitting in that crowd four years ago was Midshipman Edward Slavis. When I gave the order to liberate Iraq, he charged across the Kuwaiti border, leading a rifle platoon through 21 days of tough fighting into the heart of Baghdad. His battalion helped pull down the statue of Saddam Hussein. Ed says, "I will have time for myself later. Now I just feel privileged to spend my life doing something much larger than myself." He went on to say, "The mission will be a success, and 20 or 30 years from now historians will look back on the mission to Iraq as America's golden moment." Ed Slavis is serving his country with courage, and he's adding to the history of this Academy.

The illegal Iraq Invasion IS America's "Golden Moment." It's just that it's the BFEE that's getting all the gold.

11. Just disgusting
Something else to take notice is how Bush likes to dress up in military outfits. I don't remember any other president doing that personally. I know Eisenhower was military but I haven't seen photo's of him enough personally. But like other dictators (Hitler, Kim Jong from China and Hussein from Iraq) he likes to dress up and be surrounded around military. Quite scary.

President Eisenhower, in contrast to George Bushes, was a real man. As president, he never had to ONCE wear an American military uniform. Nor did he want to or need to.

Old lady judges watch people in pairs
limited in sex they dare
to push fake morals, insult and stare
while money doesn't talk, it swears
obscenity, who really cares,
propaganda-- all is phony

While one who sings with his tongue on fire
Gargles in the rat race choir
Bent out of shape from society's pliers

And I hope that you die
And your death will come soon
I'll follow your casket

I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
Till I am sure that you are dead.

Not Just A Last Resort?
A Global Strike Plan, With a Nuclear Option

By William Arkin
Post -- Sunday, May 15, 2005; B01

Early last summer, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld approved a top secret "Interim Global Strike Alert Order" directing the military to assume and maintain readiness to attack hostile countries that are developing weapons of mass destruction, specifically Iran and North Korea.

Two months later, Lt. Gen. Bruce Carlson, commander of the 8th Air Force, told a reporter that his fleet of B-2 and B-52 bombers had changed its way of operating so that it could be ready to carry out such missions. "We're now at the point where we are essentially on alert," Carlson said in an interview with the Shreveport (La.) Times. "We have the capacity to plan and execute global strikes." Carlson said his forces were the U.S. Strategic Command's "focal point for global strike" and could execute an attack "in half a day or less."

In the secret world of military planning, global strike has become the term of art to describe a specific preemptive attack. When military officials refer to global strike, they stress its conventional elements. Surprisingly, however, global strike also includes a nuclear option, which runs counter to traditional U.S. notions about the defensive role of nuclear weapons.

The official U.S. position on the use of nuclear weapons has not changed. Since the end of the Cold War, the United States has taken steps to de-emphasize the importance of its nuclear arsenal. The Bush administration has said it remains committed to reducing our nuclear stockpile while keeping a credible deterrent against other nuclear powers. Administration and military officials have stressed this continuity in testimony over the past several years before various congressional committees.

But a confluence of events, beginning with the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and the president's forthright commitment to the idea of preemptive action to prevent future attacks, has set in motion a process that has led to a fundamental change in how the U.S. military might respond to certain possible threats. Understanding how we got to this point, and what it might mean for U.S. policy, is particularly important now -- with the renewed focus last week on Iran's nuclear intentions and on speculation that North Korea is ready to conduct its first test of a nuclear weapon.

74. I lived through the duck and cover Fifties, the Cuban missile crisis, etc.

Besides that, my father, a career Navy man, taught atomic, biological, and chemical warfare to military personnel back in those days. Needless to say, I was rather well informed about the real dangers of nuclear war.

But I was never terribly worried back then, I guess because I'm an optimist about people working things out. But I'm not enough of an optimist to be fearless now. As I've said here before, although I love children, although most of my friends already have grandchildren, although it's sad to think of a family line ending, I'm often glad that I have no grandchildren at this juncture in history. So my update to a verse of "Masters of War" is

"For threatening my grandhchildren, unborn and unnamed,
You ain't worth the blood that flows through your veins."

(If it IS blood in their veins. Sometimes you gotta wonder if David Ickes is on the mark about them all.)

Any era when people have to fear what the future would hold for a new generation is a Dark Age of sorts.

84. It IS a Dark Age.
The people in positions of power and privilege -- the ones whose actions can make this a better world -- chose instead to make war and profit. Their actions will long be remembered by We the People.

Ickes may be right about these folk. They serve a secret and satanic elite that poisons humanity, perverts the nation and destroys the planet. Their actions, too, will long be remembered by Civilization.

May They get what they deserve.

As far as the future is concerned: It's up to us, DemBones DemBones.

We can become what we dream. Remember Shelley (paraphrase):

"The poet is the unrecognized legislator of the universe."

There's a great movie on the subject of quantum-physics, nature of reality, consciousness and philosophy you might enjoy called, "What the BLEEP Do You Know?" It stars Marie Matlin (ch. sp.). It's five octopii.

The point is, we don't have to give up to these gangsters. We don't have to fear Them or their money or their weapons of mass deception, destruction and dehumanization.

Why? We have the Truth on our side. And Justice. And Compassion. And we are the Good.

And Good always triumphs over evil. Every time.

PS: Thank you for sharing about your childhood. My dad may've been in the U.S. Navy at the same time as yours -- 1962-64. We were stationed in Indiana, of all places. I was 5-7 years old then and I can still remember how great the people were.

my head when I posted the lyrics. I copied the lyrics from a Dylan lyrics site (the official one, I think) and pasted them here, never noticing they were incomplete. That's what edge of sleep posting gets you!

Glad you noticed the final verse wasn't there and posted it. Thanks! :hi:

4. Just some mention of other sources...
... some more information on Samuel Bush and George Herbert Walker in WWI can be found in Kevin Phillips' American Dynasty.

Bushes receive incidental mention in the following book, but it's a good background on war profiteering and corporations involved in trading with Germany in WWII: Trading With the Enemy, Charles Higham.

Some of it is also mentioned in Kitty Kelley's The Family.

One of the other things I've found recently is a bit of a strange one--Bush, Sr., had a reputation in the House for being affable, but irrelevant. AS RNC chairman, his only talent was as a sycophant, and at the UN, he was mostly interested in socializing. And yet, this is the guy that hard-right Dick Cheney lobbied the Ford administration to pick as DCI. That should be kept in mind when reading through the link in the original post "Team B: The Trillion-Dollar Experiment."

Cheers.

Institute for Southern Studies:

“There is such a thirst for gain …that it is enough to make one curse their own Species, for possessing so little virtue and patriotism.”  -- President George Washington, 1778

Some dots from the hoary past to the present Memorial Day the presstitutes have failed to connect:

MAKING A KILLING: The New War Profiteers

By Chris Kromm

 I.

“President Bush is asking Congress for $80 billion dollars to rebuild Iraq. And when you make out that check, remember there are two L’s in Halliburton.”  -- David Letterman, Late Show, September 2003

When all-purpose conglomerate Halliburton Co. was recently criticized for landing no-bid government contracts worth billions of dollars for post-war reconstruction in Iraq, the company’s Dallas-based executives must have been taken somewhat by surprise.

After all, it’s not like this was the first time the company had benefited handsomely from the spoils of war. Shortly after the 9/11 tragedies, Halliburton had been discreetly handed a non-competitive, no-cap, multi-year deal for “forward deployment” operations, earning them over a billion dollars and counting.

That deal failed to elicit mainstream outrage, as did the fact that, as National Public Radio journalist John Barnett recently revealed, Halliburton’s government contracts doubled from 1995 to 2000, when Dick Cheney was at the company’s helm and Democratic President Bill Clinton in the White House.

Halliburton’s windfalls from war—like those of most other companies that have benefited from an aggressive U.S. foreign policy—are rooted in a long-running, bipartisan confluence of government policy and corporate power. Indeed, it was in 1962 that Halliburton took over Brown and Root, a Texas company instrumental in launching the career of one Senator Lyndon B. Johnson. Johnson returned the favor during the Vietnam War, steering millions in military contracts to his long-time backers.

Then, as now, allegations flew of favoritism, corruption, and profiteering by well-connected corporations. Leading the charge? An upstart Congressional Representative from Illinois, Donald Rumsfield.

... ordered the ISS issue with that study (only the introduction is available on the web), but just haven't thought to sit down and send them a check for it.

Another one that I can't recommend yet, since I just got it, but looks as if it's interesting and germane: Buying for Armageddon, John L. Boies

I've also found an old copy of J. William Fulbright's The Pentagon Propaganda Machine (on which the much-discussed--and screamed about--CBS special, "The Selling of the Pentagon," was based.

Another couple I'd recommend, which have little to do directly with the Bushes, are Carolyn Nordstrom's Shadows of War (some really horrifying stories of war in Africa) and Peter Singer's Corporate Warriors, which is a pretty good round-up of the new corporate mercenary scene.

14. President Kennedy is one of my heroes.
When he followed his own advice, President Kennedy did the right thing. Staying out of Vietnam for instance was something he wanted to do. And yet, the War Party did all it could, even before he was assassinated, to provoke war.

The Kennedy Assassination and the Vietnam War (1971)

Peter Dale Scott

EXCERPT...

The 1962 Geneva Agreements on Laos were marked by an unusual American willingness to “trust” the other side.<60> Chester Cooper confirms that their value lay in a private deal worked out between the leaders of the American and Soviet delegations—the “Harriman-Pushkin Agreement.” In essence the Russians agreed to use their influence on the Pathet Lao, Peking, and Hanoi to assure compliance with the terms agreed on at the Conference. In exchange for this, the British agreed to assure compliance by the non-Communists.<61>

He also confirms that, before Harriman and Kennedy could terminate U.S. support for the CIA’s protégé in Laos, Phoumi Nosavan, “some key officials in our Mission there…had to be replaced.”<62> The U.S. Foreign Service List shows that the officials recalled from Vientiane in the summer of 1962 include both of the resident military attachés and also the CIA Station Chief, Gordon L. Jorgensen.<63> In late 1964 Jorgensen returned to Saigon, to become, as the Pentagon Papers reveal, the Saigon CIA Station Chief .

This purge of right-wing elements in the U.S. Mission failed to prevent immediate and conspicuous violation of the Agreements by Thai-based elements of the U.S. Air Force through jet overflights of Laos. These same overflights, according to Hilsman, had been prohibited by Kennedy, on Harriman’s urging, at a National Security Council meeting. In late October 1963 Pathet Lao Radio began to complain of stepped-up intrusions by U.S. jet aircraft, as well as of a new military offensive by Phoumi’s troops (about which we shall say more later).<64>

According to Kenneth O’Donnell, President Kennedy had himself (like Galbraith) abandoned hopes for a military solution as early as the spring of 1963. O’Donnell allegedly heard from Kennedy then “that he had made up his mind that after his re-election he would take the risk of unpopularity and make a complete withdrawal of American forces from Vietnam…in 1965.”<65> Whether the President had so unreservedly and so early adopted the Galbraith perspective is debatable; there is, however, no questioning that after the Buddhist crisis in August the prospect of accelerated or total withdrawal was openly contemplated by members of the bureaucracy’s “political” faction, including the President’s brother.

24. Excellent find. A must read story
Especially the revision on NSAM 273 and subsequent approval which happened on November 26, 1963.

…National Security Action Memorandum 273, approved 26 November 1963. The immediate cause for NSAM 273 was the assassination of President Kennedy four days earlier; newly-installed President Johnson needed to reaffirm or modify the policy lines pursued by his predecessor. President Johnson quickly chose to reaffirm the Kennedy policies…

from the same story ( http://www.history-matters.com/essays/vietnam/KennedyVietnam1971/KennedyVietnam1971.htm )

Even though Chomski interprets the relevance differently and disagrees that JFK's intention was the withdrawal out of Vietnam, he provides an excellent summary of what this issue is about:

The core issue in the current Kennedy revival is the claim that JFK intended to withdraw from Vietnam, a fact suppressed by the media; and was assassinated for that reason, it is prominently charged. Some allege further that Kennedy was intent on destroying the CIA, dismantling the military-industrial complex, ending the Cold War, and opening an era of development and freedom for Latin America, among other forms of class treachery that led to his downfall. This 1991-2 drama proceeded at several levels, from cinema to scholarship, engaging some of the best- known Kennedy intellectuals as well as substantial segments of the popular movements that in large part grew from opposition to the Vietnam war. Much as they differ on parts of the picture and other issues, there is a shared belief across this spectrum that history changed course dramatically when Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963, an event that casts a grim shadow over all that followed.

It is also striking that the withdrawal thesis, which is at the heart of the Camelot revival of 1991-2, gained its prominence just on the 30th anniversary of Kennedy's steps to escalate the Indochina conflict from international terrorism to outright aggression. The anniversary of Kennedy's war against the rural society of South Vietnam passed virtually without notice, as the country mused over the evil nature of the Japanese, who had so signally failed to plead for forgiveness on the 50th anniversary of their attack on a military base in a US colony that had been stolen from its inhabitants, by force and guile, just 50 years earlier.

There are several sources of evidence that bear on the withdrawal thesis: (1) The historical facts; (2) the record of public statements; (3) the internal planning record; (4) the memoirs and other reports of Kennedy insiders. In each category, the material is substantial. The record of internal deliberations, in particular, has been available far beyond the norm since the release of two editions of the Pentagon Papers (PP). The recent publication of thousands of pages of documents in the official State Department history provides a wealth of additional material on the years of the presidential transition, 1963-4, which are of crucial significance for evaluating the thesis that many have found so compelling. What follows is an excerpt from a much longer review of the four categories of evidence in a broader context (Year 501, South End, forthcoming).

I don't think the issue really is whether it was JFK's intention to withdraw fully from Vietnam. I think it could be very likely that he prefered to continue the operation on a small scale with a limited amount of troops. One thing is clear though, the escalation of the Vietnam didn't start until after his assassination and the passing of NSAM 273 indicates that there were plenty of people pushing for an escalation of the Vietnam war. The directive was written by McGeorge Bundy.

Your work is top-notch, Swamp Rat. Plus, it captures the age like no one else.

Remember how scared Baker was during the 2000 Florida recount battle? Like he just KNEW that the crazy monkey had to win? That there was more at stake than simply an election?

Sorry I don't have any links, but it's a feeling based on how he looked. Like if he didn't win, something bad might not happen.

Money, power and prowess should not be that important for anybody.

The Bush Empire

How Four Generations of Arms, Oil, Fascism, and U.S. Government Defiance Made America's First Family

By Charles Shaw

"Almost everybody knows that George W. is the son of the 41st President. But fewer know that the family has wielded power in corporate boardrooms and capital corridors for a century and a half. On his mom's side, he's related to Franklin Pierce, the 14th President (1853-57). His dad's paternal grandfather, Samuel P. Bush, was an Ohio steel executive and the first president of the National Association of Manufacturers. Samuel's son, Prescott, became a Connecticut senator. Prescott's wife, Dorothy, was the daughter of George Herbert Walker, a co-founder of Brown Brothers Harriman, the oldest and largest private investment house on Wall Street. The Walker family helped finance the construction of Madison Square Garden and the Belmont Park racetrack--and later owned a big chunk of the New York Mets"

—Business Week, Nov 15, 1999

The previous quote embodies the public face of the Bush family, one of the richest and most influential American political dynasties in all our history. But it is almost shocking how little people actually know about the Bush family, particularly the history of the Bush men. I thought we might look beneath the veneer at the true face of America's political dynasty.

I am going to open with a story that is guaranteed to blow your hair back. This is a story that has been impossible to confirm in the mainstream press. Of course, this is part of the whole story, and why curiously the story keeps surfacing and disappearing all over the Internet. At the very least, this story is referred to enough to qualify as a modern legend. This is the extraordinary story of a dinner date that was scheduled to happen on March 31st 1981, the day of the strange assassination attempt on the life of former President Ronald Reagan. What should have been the biggest story of the 1980's seems to have been wiped clean from history, systematically prevented from ever again being mentioned by corporate media.

Held at the home of Neil Bush, the son of George Herbert Walker Bush, who himself was the very ambitious former CIA director and current Vice President, the guest of honor at the dinner party (which was quickly cancelled after news of the failed attempt on the life of the President), was Scott Hinckley, the brother of John Hinckley, the man who just that afternoon shot President Ronald Reagan, coming one half-inch from killing him.

A half-inch from putting George H.W. Bush, into the White House.

The Bush team's response to this chilling revelation on the planned dinner date was to barricade themselves behind a wall of the biggest PR Firms in the nation and issue the following statement "This horrible coincidence has been devastating to the Bush Family. Our condolences go out to all involved. And we hope to get the matter behind us as soon as possible." (sic)

35. You're welcome, anitar1. Moyers pegs the Reich-Wing as the liars they are.
I know people don't like to read long posts online. The thing is there are some things worth reading. So, Al Gore invented the printer. Think of where we'd be if all we had was TV. How many would watch Bill Moyers when they could watch "American Idle"?

A Democracy Can Die of Too Many Lies

by Bill Moyers

This address was given by Bill Moyers at the National Conference for Media Reform in St. Louis, Mo., on Sunday, May 15.

EXCERPT...

In Orwell's 1984, the character Syme, one of the writers of that totalitarian society's dictionary, explains to the protagonist Winston, "Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought?" "Has it ever occurred to you, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now? The whole climate of thought," he said, "will be different. In fact there will be no thought, as we understand it now. Orthodoxy means not thinking – not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness."

SNIP...

Furthermore, increased spending during a national emergency can produce a spectacle of corruption behind a smokescreen of secrecy. I reminded our team of the words of the news photographer in Tom Stoppard's play who said, "People do terrible things to each other, but it's worse when everyone is kept in the dark."

I also reminded them of how the correspondent and historian Richard Reeves answered a student who asked him to define real news. "Real news," Reeves responded, "is the news you and I need to keep our freedoms."

SNIP...

And always – because what people know depends on who owns the press – we kept coming back to the media business itself – to how mega media corporations were pushing journalism further and further down the hierarchy of values, how giant radio cartels were silencing critics while shutting communities off from essential information, and how the mega media companies were lobbying the FCC for the right to grow ever more powerful.

SNIP...

The more compelling our journalism, the angrier the radical right of the Republican Party became. That's because the one thing they loathe more than liberals is the truth. And the quickest way to be damned by them as liberal is to tell the truth.

Bowles absolutely PEGS the BFEE! You may enjoy his work. Here's a good example...

A Nazi in the (pocket) is worth four in the Bush (family)

"Frauds-R-Us"

EXCERPT...

From skulls to Zyklon B (and back again)

But it seems that great-granpa George Walker was also in on the business of making money out of death (like great-granpa like great grand-son),

"George Walker, GW's great-grandfather, also set up the takeover of the Hamburg-America Line, a cover for I.G. Farben's Nazi espionage unit in the United States. In Germany, I.G. Farben was most famous for putting the gas in gas chambers; it was the producer of Zyklon B and other gasses used on victims of the Holocaust. The Bush family was not unaware of the nature of their investment partners. They hired Allen Dulles, the future head of the CIA, to hide the funds they were making from Nazi investments and the funds they were sending to Nazi Germany, rather than divest."

Source: http://www.disinfo.com/pages/dossier/id195/pg1/

SNIP...

They were trying to find out what had happened to Thyssen’s billions but without success. Why?

"What the Allied investigators never understood was that they were not asking Thyssen the right question. Thyssen did not need any foreign bank accounts because his family secretly owned an entire chain of banks. He did not have to transfer his Nazi assets at the end of World War II, all he had to do was transfer the ownership documents - stocks, bonds, deeds and trusts--from his bank in Berlin through his bank in Holland to his American friends in New York City, Prescott Bush and Herbert Walker. Thyssen's partners in crime were the father and father-in-law of a future President of the United States .

SNIP...

From Eugenicist to anti-abortionist

Not content with digging up the ancestors, supporting Fascism, laundering Nazi money through a Dutch-based bank, selling weapons to the mullahs of Iran, trading guns for drugs, doing business deals with Osama bin Laden, the Bush family in the form of ol’ granpa Prescott was an early supporter of the Eugenics movement (or racial purity, to give it its real name). And a rather embarassing connection it is too, as Bush Snr discovered,

"…And the Birth Control League was there, which had long trumpeted the need for eugenical births--fewer births for parents with "inferior" bloodlines. Prescott partner Tighe was a Connecticut director of the league, and the Connecticut league's medical advisor was eugenics advocate Dr. Winternitz of Yale Medical School.

42. Bush Crime Family Tree
This is old hat for you, oasis, being a reader and all, but it may help connect the dots for those raised on Reagan and after.

Here's a nice overview of the overlords. One might well ask, "What about all of Them that have been left out?" Indeed. Maybe we can get a few of these to turn state's evidence, in exchange for a lighter sentence.

The Bush Crime Family Tree

George Walker, GW's great-grandfather,  set up the takeover of the Hamburg-America Line, a cover for I.G. Farben's Nazi espionage unit in the United States. In Germany, I.G. Farben was most famous for putting the gas in gas chambers; it was the producer of Zyklon B and other gasses used on victims of the Holocaust. The Bush family was not unaware of the nature of their investment partners. They hired Allen Dulles, the future head of the CIA, to hide the funds they were making from Nazi investments and the funds they were sending to Nazi Germany, rather than divest. It was only in 1942, when the government seized Union Banking Company assets under the Trading With The Enemy Act, that George Walker and Prescott Bush stopped pumping money into Hitler's regime. (1)

Prescott Bush, the president's grandfather. According to classified documents from Dutch intelligence and US government archives, President George W. Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush made considerable profits off Auschwitz slave labor. In fact, President Bush himself is an heir to these profits from the holocaust which were placed in a blind trust in 1980 by his father, former president George Herbert Walker Bush. (2) On the 20th of October, the government commenced action against the company under the trading with the enemy act. (3) After the seizures in late 1942 of five U.S. enterprises he managed on behalf of Nazi industrialist Fritz Thyssen failed to divest himself of more than a dozen "enemy national" relationships that continued until as late as 1951, newly-discovered U.S. government documents reveal. (4)  In 1952, Prescott Bush was elected to the U.S. Senate, with no press accounts about his well-concealed Nazi past.(5)

George Herbert Walker Bush, the presidents father. Bush, as director of the CIA, had funneled enormous amounts of cash to drug runners including Manuel Noriega and helped in the destabilization of Argentina. Bush utilized his own connections to help fund drug runners from Laos to Panama. Most shocking was the so-called "cocaine coup" in Bolivia in June 1980, masterminded by fugitive Nazi Klaus Barbie, "The Butcher Of Lyons." Barbie, who had been previously secreted in Latin America by the CIA, began working closely with the Argentines and used drug money to finance a neo-Nazi cabal, one that succeeded in overthrowing the government. The troops swept through the capital wearing Nazi armbands, according to former DEA agent Mike Levine. George H.W. Bush later facilitated the Iran-contra affair, employing many of the same methods: secretly selling Central American cocaine in America and weapons to Iran while using the profits to fund the contras and to overthrow democratically elected socialists in Central America.(6) as the head of the CIA and later as Vice President, toppled democratically elected regimes in South and Central America and began propping up a dictator by the name of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Although forbidden by congress to do so, he continued to sell chemical and biological weapons to Saddam even after he used them on villages of innocent civilians. A decade later The United States had to go to war against him and the Bush family again, made millions from it.
Jonathan J. Bush, the Presidents uncle. Jonathan Bush's "Pioneer Profile" in "George W. Bush's $100,000 Club" cites him as the "head" of the Riggs Investment Management Co.; "Bush’s uncle Jonathan ... founded its subsidiary, J. Bush & Co., of which he is chair. He also is an ex-chair of the New York Republican State Finance Committee. Bush credits the investors sent his way by this banker uncle as a key to his 'success' in the Texas oil industry in the early ‘80s." (17)

Jonathan J. Bush, is a top executive at Riggs Bank, which this week agreed to pay a record $25 million in civil fines for violations of law intended to thwart money laundering. Jonathan Bush, who is a major fundraiser for his nephew, was appointed in 2000 to run Riggs Investment Management Co. His association with Riggs began when he headed J. Bush & Co., a New Haven, Conn., company he created in 1970 and built to offer advice on money management. (18)

43. Some info on what happened to a hero of ours, President Kennedy...
Thanks, G_j! Much obliged.

Here's the root of the problem. An excerpt from a resource on yet another subject the US press corpse has deemed "untouchable."

General Reinhard Gehlen, shown (center) in a rare photograph taken during WW II.

The Nazi Connection to the Assassination of John F. Kennedy

EXCERPT...

Even Robert Ludlum would have been hard put to invent a more improbable espionage yam. In the eyes of the CIA Reinhard Gehlen was an "asset" of staggering potential. He was a professional spymaster, violently anti-Communist and, best of all, the controller of a vast underground network still in place inside Russian frontiers. His checkered past mattered not. "He's on our side and that's all that matters," chuckled Allen Dulles, a U.S. intelligence officer during the war who later headed the CIA. "Besides, one need not ask a Gehlen to one's club."

Gehlen negotiated with his American "hosts" with the cool hand of a Las Vegas gambler. When the German collapse was at hand, he had looked to the future. He lugged all his files into the Bavarian Alps and cached them at a site called, appropriately, Misery Meadows. Then he buried his Wehrmacht uniform with the embroidered eagle and swastika, donned an Alpine coat, and turned himself in to the nearest U.S. Army detachment. When the advancing Russians searched his headquarters at Zossen, all they found were empty file cabinets and litter.

The deal Gehlen struck with the Americans was not, for obvious reasons, released to the Washington Post. As Heinz Hohne and Hermann Zolling phrased it in The General Was A Spy, the German general took his entire apparatus, "unpurged and without interruption, into the service of the American superpower." There is no evidence that he ever renounced the Third Reich's postwar plan, advanced by his own family's publishing house, to colonize vast regions of Eastern Russia, create a huge famine for 40,000,000, and treat the remaining 50,000,000 "racially inferior Slavs as slaves."

Allen Dulles may not have invited such a man to his club, but he did the next best thing: he funneled an aggregate of $200 million in CIA funds to the Gehlen Organization as it became known. Directing operations from a fortress-like nerve center in Bavaria, Gehlen reactivated his network inside Russia. Soon, news of the first Russian jet fighter, the MiG-15, was channeled back to the West. In 1949 the general scored an espionage coup when he turned up Soviet plans for the remilitarization of East Germany.

When Dulles spoke, Gehlen listened. The CIA chief was convinced, along with his brother, Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, that the "captive nations" of the Soviet bloc would rise up if given sufficient encouragement. At his behest, Gehlen recruited and trained an exile mercenary force ready to rush in without involving American units. Also at Dulles' direction, Gehlen tapped the ranks of his wartime Russian collaborators for a cadre of spies to be parachuted into the Soviet Union. Some of these spies were schooled at the CIA's clandestine base at Atsugi, Japan, where, in 1957, a young Marine named Lee Harvey Oswald was posted to the U-2 spy plane operation there.

Atsugi was only one station on Oswald's Far East intelligence route; he was also at the U-2 base at Subic Bay in the Philippines and, for a short while, at Ping-Tung. Taiwan In 1959 he was transferred to a Marine base at Santa Ana, California for instructions in radar surveillance. His training officer had graduated from the Georgetown School of Foreign Service, which had close Agency ties. In May, 1960, when President Eisenhower was planning a summit meeting with Soviet Premier Khrushchev, a U-2 was shot down over Russia and its pilot captured. The pilot, Francis Gary Powers, later blamed his demise on Lee Harvey Oswald. The U-2 affair effectively sabotaged Ike's summit meeting.

Karenina! Thanks for the kick to the pants of the BFEE!

Hey! Remember Covert Action Information Bulletin?
They ran some heavy stuff on these lightweight traitors.

The Family That Preys Together -
the Bush Family

by Jack Colhoun
CovertAction Quarterly, 1992

EXCERPT...

Meanwhile, a cloak-and-dagger aura surrounds Junior's business dealings. James Bath, a Texas entrepreneur who invested $50,000 in Arbusto Energy, may be a business cutout for the CIA. Bath also acted as an investment "adviser" to Saudi Arabian oil sheikhs, linked to the outlaw BCCI, which also has ties to the CIA.

Bill White, a former Bath partner, claims that Bath has "national security" connections. White, a United States Naval Academy graduate and former fighter pilot, charges that Bath developed a network of offshore companies to camouflage the movement of money and aircraft between Texas and the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia.

Alan Ouasha, a Harken director and former chair of the company, is the son of attorney William Ouasha, who defended figures in the Nugan Hand Bank scandal in Australia. Closed in 1980, Nugan Hand was not only tied to drug-money laundering and U.S. intelligence and military circles, but also to the CIA's covert backing for a "constitutional coup" in Australia that caused the fall of Prime Minister Gough Whitlam.

The Harken deal with Bahrain raises another troubling question: Did the Bahrainis and the BCCI-linked Saudi oil sheikhs use the production sharing agreement with Harken to curry favor with the Bush Administration and influence U.S. policy in the Middle East?

Talat Othman's sudden rise to prominence in Bush Administration foreign policy circles is a case in point. Othman, who sits on the Harken board as Sheikh Bakhsh's representative, didn't have access to President Bush before Harken's Bahrain agreement.

AND NOW:

Bush: Worst President Ever?

By Stephen Pizzo, News for Real. Posted May 20, 2005.

Herbert Hoover may have triggered the Great Depression, but he didn't invade another nation on false pretenses, authorize torture of prisoners, or try to stack the courts.

For the record, I don't like George Bush. And I don't like most of the people who work for George Bush. So, diehard Republicans can just brush aside my remarks as so much partisan blather.

But by now I suppose very few diehard Republicans ever read what I write. So do me a favor -- e-mail this to the diehards in your family and circle of friends. Ask them to tell me why I am wrong about this:

George Bush is the worst president of the United States of America, ever. Hands down.

A treasure trove of truth.

From Karenina's inspiration and the above:

“This president is unique in his failures.”

Then the historians were asked, if he is the worst, in what areas is he the worst since..... Open the envelope please! And the loser is....

* In terms of economic damage, Bush is the worst since Reagan.
* In terms of imperialism, the worst since T. Roosevelt.
* In terms of dishonesty in government he is the worst since Nixon.
* In terms of affable incompetence the worst since Harding.
* In terms of corruption the worst since Grant.
* In terms of general lassitude and cluelessness, the worst since Coolidge.
* In terms of personal dishonesty, the worst since Clinton.
* In terms of religious arrogance, the worst since Wilson.”

The DUer grabbed the available info and put it in a convenient package for people to read, file and spread around.

So, the subject becomes Georgie Jr's sweetheartingest sweetheart bidniss deal, another Bush money-maker, inside trading in the field and on Wall Street.

HarkenGate, July 9, 2002 file:

HarkenGate readily breaks down into five areas for investigation and discussion:

1.W. possibly built oil company and interests through favoritism or trading off his father's name (esp. Bahrain's naming of Harken as the oil company for the country's off-shore interests).

2. Harken's posted of phony financial statements, claiming incoming assets for a subsidiary it bought from itself. (A mere $8-12 million, a low-rent version of what Enron did a decade later.)

3. W.'s trading of stock based on possible knowledge of potential stock devaluation i.e., insider trading (2 possibilities):
–a. Knowledge of secret State Dept. memo claiming Hussain was ready to attack neighbors.
–b. Knowledge of Harken's dire straits as one member of a three-member "Fairness" (auditing) committee.

4. W.'s late filing of stock sales to SEC and variation in story as to reasons.

5. Possible favoritism shown to Bush's business "indiscretions" by SEC through father's influence and/or the possible reward to SEC investigator(s) by W. himself.

According, this first file breaks into these five areas with hotlinks and clipping of the stories focusing on each issue. The second file provides the base of documents from which the first file was drawn in a manner that the reader might follow the progression of the story. Both files begin with BACKGROUND, citing Joe Conason's thorough and clear overview of the narrative of W.'s fortune. To Joe's credit, he brings up nearly all of the five issues (and sub-issues) listed above. Pizzo's article is also a good background piece.

************************************************
************************************************

BACKGROUND:

--Joe Conason's "Notes on a Native Son," Harper's Magazine, Feb. 2000. (A thorough, given article parameters, overview of George W. Bush's fortune. Harken is covered primarily on pp. 4-6 of item. Due to this article, Conason has been frequently quoted on Bush's corporate dealings):

–Stephen Pizzo, "Bush Family Values," Mother Jones, Sept.-Oct. 1992 (another good example of early reporting on Bush's fortunes):

http://www.motherjones.com/news_wire/bushboys.html

Will Pitt's December 18, 2001 DU article, "King Midas in Reverse," also summarizes the major issues well and is a good read:

************************************************
************************************************

1.THE POSSIBILITY THAT W. BUILT OIL INTERESTS BY TRADING OFF HIS FATHER'S NAME AT THE LEAST, FAVORITISM AT THE MOST:

Read Conason and Pizzi in Background.

Kevin Sack's "George Bush the Son Finds That Oil and Blood Do Mix," NY Times, May 8, 1999 (another excellent background piece concerning W.'s acquisition of a fortune, but Sack's clearly draws the personal and familial connections):

http://www.csus.edu/indiv/f/friedman/spring02/govt1/schedule/j/j1/bush.html

Tom Flocco, Wolrd Net Daily, laid it out clearly:

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/printer-friendly.asp?ARTICLE_ID=16298

<snip>

In October 1991, Time Magazine questioned why the tiny country of Bahrain would stake so much of its financial future on Harken Energy, which it labeled an "obscure, money-losing company with no refineries and no experience in offshore oil exploration." But the magazine also noted that oil-insiders speculated that Bahrain's rulers saw the arrangement as a way to gain influence with the Bush administration.

Mysteriously, primary reporters have also ignored what could point to a nexus regarding foreign policy and personal financial interests. Interestingly, the Village Voice in January 1991 reported that in 1990 the Bush administration signed an agreement with Bahrain that chose the small country as the permanent principal allied base in the Middle East, although it was some 200 miles away from the hostilities in Iraq and Kuwait.

The military-base deal came after Harken announced its Jan. 30, 1990, joint oil-drilling venture with Bahrain. So President Bush's key contributors and his son George W. were carrying on personal financial business with Bahrain at the same time decisions were being made regarding the possibility of a war in the Gulf.

And neither the president nor his adviser, George Jr., let the press know that Bahrain had been permitted to infuse $7.7 million in foreign cash to hire U.S. public relations firm Hill & Knowlton to lobby Congress and the American people; a stunning variety of opinion-forming devices and techniques were employed to inflame U.S. patriotic passions of war while personal financial interests were on the line.

<snip>

And it's even possible that some bin Laden money went to Bush's launching pad in the oil business (Arbusto) as the wealthy Saudi family sought to maintain favor with the Republican administration as Wayne Madsen reports in In These Times:

http://www.inthesetimes.com/issue/25/25/feature3.shtml

<snip>

In 1979, Bush's first business, Arbusto Energy, obtained financing from James Bath, a
Houstonian and close family friend. One of many investors, Bath gave Bush $50,000 for a
5 percent stake in Arbusto. At the time, Bath was the sole U.S. business representative
for Salem bin Laden, head of the wealthy Saudi Arabian family and a brother (one of 17)
to Osama bin Laden. It has long been suspected, but never proven, that the Arbusto
money came directly from Salem bin Laden. In a statement issued shortly after the
September 11 attacks, the White House vehemently denied the connection, insisting
that Bath invested his own money, not Salem bin Laden's, in Arbusto.

In conflicting statements, Bush at first denied ever knowing Bath, then acknowledged
his stake in Arbusto and that he was aware Bath represented Saudi interests. In fact,
Bath has extensive ties, both to the bin Laden family and major players in the
scandal-ridden Bank of Commerce and Credit International (BCCI) who have gone on to
fund Osama bin Laden. BCCI defrauded depositors of $10 billion in the '80s in what has
been called the "largest bank fraud in world financial history" by former Manhattan
District Attorney Robert Morgenthau. During the '80s, BCCI also acted as a main conduit
for laundering money intended for clandestine CIA activities, ranging from financial
support to the Afghan mujahedin to paying intermediaries in the Iran-Contra affair.

2. HARKEN'S POSTING OF PHONY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS CLAIMING ASSETS WITHOUT NOTING DEBITS AND BUSH'S KNOWLEDGE OF THE FRAUDLENT ACCOUNTING.

Paul Krugman's July 7 column spells it out:

http://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/07/opinion/07KRUG.html

<snip>

That's exactly what happened at Harken. A group of insiders, using money borrowed
from Harken itself, paid an exorbitant price for a Harken subsidiary, Aloha Petroleum.
That created a $10 million phantom profit, which hid three-quarters of the company's
losses in 1989. White House aides have played down the significance of this maneuver,
saying $10 million isn't much, compared with recent scandals. Indeed, it's a small
fraction of the apparent profits Halliburton created through a sudden change in
accounting procedures during Dick Cheney's tenure as chief executive. But for Harken's
stock price — and hence for Mr. Bush's personal wealth — this accounting trickery made
all the difference.

Oh, and Harken's fake profits were several dozen times as large as the Whitewater land
deal — though only about one-seventh the cost of the Whitewater investigation.

Mr. Bush was on the company's audit committee, as well as on a special restructuring
committee; back in 1994, another member of both committees, E. Stuart Watson,
assured reporters that he and Mr. Bush were constantly made aware of the company's
finances. If Mr. Bush didn't know about the Aloha maneuver, he was a very negligent
director.

<snip>

An unattributed editorial in the St. Louis Post Dispach July 7, 2002, puts it succinctly:

http://home.post-dispatch.com/channel%5Cpdweb.nsf/TodaySunday/
86256A0E0068FE5086256BEF002DD29E?OpenDocument&PubWrapper=Editorial

(You'll have to bind http address together to go directly.)

<snip>

...Harken sold a subsidiary to a group of its own insiders. It lent those insiders much of the money to make the purchase. Then Harken claimed a profit from the sale. It was almost as if the company were claiming profits for selling something to itself. Shades of Enron, Qwest and Dynegy, among others. The SEC cried foul. It forced the company to restate its earnings to show a much larger loss.

Did Mr. Bush approve of such accounting sleight of hand? After all, he was on Harken's audit committee. Or was he snoozing while management had fun with figures?

<snip>

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2002/07/08/MN139428.DTL

<snip>

Democrats hope to draw attention to a controversial deal by Harken to sell one of its subsidiaries, Aloha Petroleum, to a group of Harken insiders. The SEC later found that deal might have disguised at least $8 million in losses by Harken and asked the company to restate its 1989 earnings. Bush was on the audit committee of Harken's board at the time.

<snip>

************************************************
************************************************

3. BUSH'S SELLING OF HARKEN STOCK BASED ON POSSIBLE KNOWLEDGE OF POTENTIAL STOCK DEVALUATION, I.E, INSIDER TRADING (2 possibilities):

–a. BUSH'S KNOWLEDGE OF A SECRET STATE DEPARTMENT MEMO CLAIMING HUSSAIN WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND READY TO ATTACK KUWAIT

Pizzo lays out the case:

http://www.motherjones.com/news_wire/bushboys.html

<snip>

In May 1990, the U.S. State Department sent a chilling but still classified report to Scowcroft. The report warned that Iraqi president Saddam Hussein was out of control and was threatening his neighbors:

May 16, 1990
SECRET
Attached is a paper containing a list of options for responding to recent actions and statements by the Government of Iraq. ...We ask that you pass this paper to Robert Gates for his review.

Under "options" the memo suggested: Ban Oil Purchases: The largest benefit Iraq receives from the US is through our oil purchases...
PRO -- A total ban on oil purchases would have some short-term impact.
CON -- Such action might also have an impact on US Oil prices.

Oil companies had learned, during the years of the long Iran-Iraq war, that trouble in the gulf hurts companies with oil interests because, for one thing, at the first sound of a rifle shot in the gulf region, Lloyds of London jacks up insurance rates on oil tankers and company installations. The "wartime" rates are very high and cut deeply into company profits and investor confidence. If things really get out of hand, pipelines are destroyed and waterways are mined.

The secret memo augured ill for Harken's fledgling venture.

<snip>

(Memo is May, Bush sells in June!)

–b. KNOWLEDGE OF HARKEN'S POOR FINANCIAL SITUATION AS A MEMBER OF A THREE-MEMBER "FAIRNESS" (read: AUDIT) COMMITTEE :

Read Conason and Pizzi in Background.

Molly Ivins Feb. 15, 2002 Texas Observer article:

http://www.texasobserver.org/showArticle.asp?ArticleID=562

<snip>

A month before Bush sold his stock, the Harken board appointed Bush and another company director, E. Stuart Watson, to a "fairness committee" determine how restructuring would affect ordinary stockholders.

Smith, Barney, Harris, Upham & Co., the financial consultants hired by Harken, told Bush and Watson only drastic action could save the company. So Bush sold his stock before the news became public. According to U.S. News & World Report, there was "substantial evidence to suggest that Bush knew Harken was in dire straits."

4. BUSH'S LATE FILING OF STOCK SALES TO SEC AND VARIATIONS IN THE STORY

Real problems are brewing in this area. Did you notice that the story changed again in the last 24-36 hours?? The initial story had been that the SEC had misplaced the filings. But that didn't wash (since nobody at SEC was willing to take the heat for W.'s incompetence in a high profile case.) Recently he claimed that the hold up was due to Harken's lawyers. At Bush's Monday (June 8) press conference, he said that they are not clear what happened. Why can't the previous story, that Harken's lawyers filed months late, stand up under scrutiny??

A July 4, 2002, NYTimes story by Elisabeth Bumiller succinctly provides details on W's changed story about late filing:

http://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/04/politics/04BUSH.html?ex=1026532800
&en=249a29fcb97603b8&ei=5040&partner=MOREOVER

You'll have to paste address together and register to read, but a shortened version without NYTimes registration necessity at:

http://www.ohio.com/mld/beaconjournal/3599668.htm

<snip>

Ari Fleischer, the White House press secretary, said Wednesday. that Bush failed to promptly disclose the sale of stock 12 years. ago because of a ``mix-up'' with his lawyers. In 1994, however,. Bush blamed not his lawyer but the Securities and Exchange Commission for misplacing the proper forms.

Fleischer could not completely explain the inconsistency, and he said he did not know when or why Bush changed his explanation about the reason the sale was disclosed late.

. . .

Bush, who was on Harken's board of directors, has said that he quickly realized that the stock's slide would raise concerns that he had sold based on inside information, a potential crime. The suspicions grew when the SEC said that it did not have a document from Bush, a Form 4, that insiders must file when they sell stock. Bush did not file the Form 4, and officially report the sale, until March 1991.

But Bush had promptly filed another required document, a Form 144, disclosing his intent to sell the stock.

In 1994, when Bush was asked why he had not filed the Form 4, he said he thought he had and that the SEC must have misplaced it. But on Wednesday, Fleischer said the problem was a ``mix-up, a clerical mistake'' by lawyers for Harken.

``The best explanation is the attorneys thought the form hadbeen filed, which is what led George W. Bush to say he thought it had been filed and the SEC had lost it,'' Fleischer said. ``That was not the case.''

<snip>

http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/2002/07/08_Harken.html

<snip>

Ari Fleischer who, if you read the. transcript of July 3, 2002's White House Press Briefing, craftily alleged. that Harken Energy's corporate attorneys were grossly incompetent. No, he didn't "say" they were grossly incompetent, but if you follow Fleischer's logic, you would have to conclude that this is what he meant. Apparently the attorneys neglected to read the deadline and filing instructions printed at the top of SEC Form-4: "This Form must be filed on or before the tenth day after the end of the month in which a change in beneficial ownership has occurred (the term "beneficial owner" is defined in Rule 16a-1(a)(2) and discussed in Instruction 4)." That is the tenth day after the end of the month . . .. Not 34 weeks.

. . .

I have never once worked with what I'd call an "upright" attorney who would dare miss a director's SEC filing deadline. In fact, if I were the assigned secretary to that lawyer, I would have been fired had I failed to note the deadline on my own working calendar.

<snip>

The third change in the story, Chicago Trib:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/cgi-bin/duforum/
duboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=25150&forum=DCForumID5

(You'll have to paste address back together to go direct and then register, but here is the salient paragraph.)

<snip>

Changing his response for a third time, Bush said he did not know why some of the
forms he was required to file with the Securities and Exchange Commission about his
1990 sale of nearly $850,000 in Harken Energy Corp. stock were 34 months late reaching
the SEC. He earlier had blamed the SEC for losing the documents, and then a "mix-up"
by Harken's attorneys.

<snip>

David Scheim, for Campaign Watch, summarizes the SEC's final disposition on Bush's sales:

http://www.campaignwatch.org/more1.htm

<snip>

. . . the SEC had not exonerated Bush. On October 18, 1993, Bruce A. Hiler, the SEC's associate director for enforcement, wrote a letter to Bush's lawyer stating that "the investigation has been terminated as to the conduct of Mr. Bush, and that, at this time, no enforcement action is contemplated with respect to him."7 Bush claimed he had been cleared, and the head of the SEC's enforcement division, William McLucas, went beyond the letter and stated that "there was no case there."8

Yet Hiler's official letter had added that it "must in no way be construed as indicating that the party has been exonerated or that no action may ultimately result from the staff's investigation ."9

<snip>

Knut Royce's report for The Public i stresses the SEC connection:

http://www.public-i.org/story_01_100400.htm
and he follows it up with another:

http://www.public-i.org/story_01_100400.htm

Informational: Nederland posted this in DU July 8, 2002

<snip>

Mr. Bush followed the law by informing regulators of his intention to sell stock in Harken Energy Corp., a Texas oil company, in 1990. But he conceded that because of a "mix-up, a clerical mistake" by Harken lawyers, Mr. Bush had not promptly reported the sale after it took place.

Link: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/07/03/politics/main514190.shtml

As I mentioned before, its the intention to sell (form 144) that is the important document. The document indicating that you actually sold your stock (form 4), is generally regarded as a formality.

<snip>

and Nederland follows up with:

<snip>

This form must be filed with the SEC as notice of the proposed sale of restricted securities or securities held by an affiliate of the issuer in reliance on Rule 144. Notice on the form is only required when the amount to be sold during any three-month period exceeds 500 shares or units or has an aggregate sales price in excess of $10,000. The sale must take place within three months of filing the form and, if the securities have not been sold, an amended notice must be filed.

Link: http://www.sec.gov/answers/form144.htm

As you can see, the form must be filed within three months of the sale, not in the "next couple of years" . . . .

<snip>

The seriousness of late filings?? Frank Rich's "All the President's Enrons," NY Times (July 6) provides only a brief paragraph on Harken, but includes the sentence, "A Presidential spokesman assured us . . . that this infraction amounted to nothing more than driving 60 in a 55-mile-an-hour zone.")

5. POSSIBLE FAVORITISM BY SEC WHEN INVESTIGATING BUSH'S BUSINESS "INDISCRETIONS":

Tom Flocco for World Net Daily put it well last Feb.:

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/printer-friendly.asp?ARTICLE_ID=16298

<snip>

The governor also did not reveal the blatant conflicts of interest involved, since the chairman of the SEC was Richard Breedon, former lawyer with Houston firm Baker and Botts and deputy counsel to Bush's father when he was vice president. Breedon received his SEC appointment after the elder Bush became president.

The SEC investigation of George W. was led by general counsel James R. Doty who, according to a UPI report mysteriously neglected to interview any of the Harken directors. Moreover, Doty had previously served as George W. Bush's personal lawyer in the deal involving his Texas Rangers purchase. So, in the end, the younger Bush was cleared of insider trade wrongdoing by his personal attorney and by his father's vice-presidential counsel, a virtual impossibility for the average U.S. citizen.

<snip>

Even W.'s lawyer profits:

The Bush Legacy Cocaine Profits

http://www.alexconstantine.50megs.com/the_bush_legacy.html

Miami New Times February 27, 1991

Dirty Money By Jefferson Morley

"I want to be very wealthy, and I'll be glad to tell you when I've accomplished that goal." John Ellis "Jeb" Bush

The photograph is unexceptional, according to those who have inspected it, similar to pictures seen in the homes and offices of self-important people everywhere. An ambitious businessman is shown grasping the hand of a prominent political figure. The businessman is Leonel Martinez, well-known Miami home builder, convicted drug trafficker, and murder suspect. He is shaking hands with George Herbert Walker Bush, at the time vice president of the United States. The picture of the vice president and the cocaine kingpin was discovered in one of twelve filing cabinets seized from Martinez's construction business in June 1989, when Martinez was arrested on drug charges by Metro-Dade police and agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration. Investigators also found other photographs of Martinez with notable local figures, including one of Martinez with Metro Mayor Steve Clark, and another with State Attorney Janet Reno.

This past March Martinez pleaded guilty to federal narcotics charges. In a statement submitted to the court, he acknowledged his role in drug trafficking, admitting he'd imported more than 5500 pounds of cocaine and hundreds of thousands of pounds of marijuana into the United States between 1977 and 1987. Now serving a 23-year prison sentence, Martinez is cooperating with federal authorities in an ongoing narcotics investigation. More a cultural artifact than a legal document, the photograph of George Bush and Leonel Martinez is a snapshot of America in the Eighties. The nouveau riche lawbreaker with diamond-encrusted Rolex shakes hands with the paragon of establishment American politics, the very man once charged with leading the fight against drugs in South Florida. The key to understanding that picture lies not in the sweeping tides of national affairs but rather in the backwaters of local politics. For Miami Republicans in the 1980s, those waters were dominated by a tall, boyishly handsome young man named John Ellis Bush. Jeb, as he is commonly known, is the second-oldest son of George Bush and likely a future candidate for national political office. If it weren't for Jeb, it's unlikely that Leonel Martinez would ever have found himself shaking hands with the vice president of the United States. There is no evidence that George Bush or his son Jeb knew Leonel Martinez dealt in illegal drugs, according to senior law enforcement officials familiar with the Martinez case, and the photographs of Martinez with various political figures are not part of any ongoing investigation. It is not known whether George, Jeb, and Leonel were anything more than passing acquaintances. It is certain, however, that at the time the picture was taken, probably between 1984 and 1987, Leonel Martinez was known to the Bushes' political fund-raising organizations as an important source of support.

Between 1984 and 1987, Martinez and his wife Margarita donated at least $14,200 to political organizations controlled by the Bush family. Martinez gave to other political causes, too, though not as generously as to the Bushes. In 1986, for example, his Miami construction companies contributed $6000 to the successful gubernatorial campaign of Bob Martinez. After losing the governorship to Lawton Chiles this past November, Bob Martinez was appointed to a new job. President Bush, after consulting with his son Jeb, tapped the ex-governor to lead the National Office of Drug Control Policy. Bob Martinez did not respond to inquiries about the donations from Leonel Martinez, but if approved by the Senate during confirmation hearings that begin this week, he will be the first drug czar known to have enjoyed the financial support of a major drug trafficker.

During his years of political philanthropy, Leonel Martinez was a hot criminal suspect. He had been arrested three times; in two cases charges were dropped, the third resulted in a felony conviction for carrying a concealed weapon. He was being watched by the U.S. Customs Service. His finances were being probed by the Internal Revenue Service. The Drug Enforcement Agency mounted two separate investigations of him. A Swiss bank in the Bahamas had rejected him as an undesirable customer. And the Central Intelligence Agency, which was in a position to know about all this scrutiny, had developed ample evidence of drug trafficking by a faction of Nicaraguan contra supporters to which Martinez belonged.

Most important: You're welcome, OmmmSweetOmmm. Thanks for the reminder: Palast is real. And thank you for reminding me about another way the members of the Octopus move money from those who earn it to their numbered Swiss bank accounts.

FYI: At the top of the column is a picture of the late Gary Webb. He chronicled how the CIA turned a blind eye to cocaine and crack when it turned a buck for the Contras. Nice government officials we got, eh?

41. It's always time for another Bush-NAZI thread: "Dangerous Clowns"
These turds of the BFEE have been in business since 22 November 1963. Those are some very important links, there, bobthedrummer! The BFEE represents the axis around which revolve NAZIs of old, today's new NAZIs, the Mafia, international drug dealers, money launderers, the CIA, the Military-Industrial-Intel Complex and the nation's secret government.

So. More light from our good friends at Buzzflash.com:

Dangerous Clowns

By Pamela Troy

EXCERPT...

For the past twenty years, Streicher’s voice has been most faithfully echoed in the pronouncements of people like Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Ann Coulter and countless other less well-known "clowns" who frequent cable TV, talk radio and the Internet. Like Streicher, they are often dismissed as so obviously ridiculous that they’re barely worth the attention of well-informed citizens.

And while they are not anti-Semites and their rhetoric is unlikely to lead to the mass murder of those they target, it has, like Streicher’s, made mindless hatred not just acceptable in the minds of many people, but downright virtuous.

There’s a saying about the sleep of reason and what it produces. For far too long, thinking Americans have treated the irrationality steadily bubbling up from the far right as if it were a harmless amusement, unlikely to impact ordinary citizens. We have been unwilling to look at the extent to which the mediums of right-wing talk radio and the Internet have popularized the agenda of influential people who are not stupid, but who are willing to foster and use stupidity and hatred as a means to an end.

“Undesirable Impulses” and The Tactic of Delegitimization

The relatively recent successes of New Left ideas in law and legislation have only been made possible because their proponents were able to capture the cultural institutions--e.g., the media, academia, publishing houses, advertising agencies, Hollywood--some years earlier … We will not try to reform the existing institutions. We only intend to weaken them, and eventually destroy them.-- Eric Heubeck, The Integration of Theory and Practice

Substituting contempt for reason is not a new phenomenon in this country, nor is it a vice confined to the far right. A thorough search of the Internet will uncover leftist sites containing gross, sometimes threatening statements about conservatives. This kind of mindless garbage has always to some degree been present in political commentary in every time, belief, and nation. It only becomes truly dangerous when it mirrors the aims and tactics of powerful interests.

64. Know your Dangerous Clowns: G Gordon Liddy
G. Gordon Liddy: listening to Hitler "made me feel a strength inside I had never known before"

Radio host and former Nixon administration official G. Gordon Liddy discussed environmentalism; how Adolf Hitler inspired Liddy in his youth; the Vietnam War; child-rearing; Watergate; and his 1994 advice to his listeners to shoot agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in an interview with columnist Johann Hari, published November 22 in the British newspaper The Independent. According to Hari, Liddy called environmentalists "fanatics" like Al Qaeda, claimed that the "official version of Watergate is as wrong as a Flat Earth Society pamphlet," and said that if U.S. policy during the Vietnam War was up to him he would have "drowned half the country and starved the other half." In discussing Hitler's personal influence upon him, Liddy said that "at assemblies where the national anthem is played, I must suppress the urge to snap out my right arm."

And Money from all else that is Evil.

Bastards. These Devils.

PS: "Confessions" really sounds like a great book. The author, from what I learned on DU, is a World Bank or IMF honcho who spills the beans on how the books, policy and media get cooked to rip-off the Third World and anyone who stands in their way. Like you say, Just Me: To beat the BFEE and their under-stooges will take all of us hands.

85. "Confessions of an Economic Hitmen" is an easy yet impactful read.
The reader is taken on a journey gone bad and sad. He did a fabulous job of connecting human strength, human weakness, human existence and human potential in a read that avoids overwhelming passion or information.

Of course, I do wish he would have had the strength and courage to publish it twenty years ago, before we reached this cliff; but, I acknowledge that my desire to prevent unecessary suffering often suffocates my long-term perspective of how life must unfold.

And, hey, YOU, Octafish,...my words to you are NOT out of kindness!! I simply acknowledge what you do and what you are,...you ARE an incredible source of information in addition to being an individual who has proven to hold a genuine compassion for and belief in fellow human beings!!! I am grateful. I embrace you. I love what you are and do.

47. One of my favorite books is
"American Dynasty," by Kevin Phillips. One of the most valuable things about the book is that its author has a long and well-respected career on the republican right. Thus, although my own opinion is far to the left of his, he provides a good reference for debating those who might be considered moderate -- including democrats and republicans.

You mention Harriman (and of course a book that you provided a good reference to a while back on the CIA), who I consider to be one of the least understood players in the past century. He was one of the "high cabal" who normally are not seen in public. The reasons for his occassional intrusions into the public spotlight are not entirely understood, even yet. But he was a treacherous man. James Baker is of the same mold, in my opinion.

50. What you said, H2O Man. I can make a case for Baker over Harriman.
Agree about Phillips. He's honest, admitting he authored the "Southern Strategy" old Crook Nixon used to grab power.

In the present, Baker at least is up front of helping the BFEE, all repug slime. I know someone who knows someone who knows him well and discovered the guy Baker is only following orders, as are the rest of the BFEE.

Harriman helped start the whole darn BFEE thing, getting in business with George Walker and Samuel Bush and he was a Democrat. Later, of course, Bush progeny would do all sorts of damage to the nation. I wonder if Harriman was secretly in cahoots with the "Coup Against FDR" volk?

Franklin Delano Roosevelt vs. the Banks:
Morgan's Fascist Plot, and How It Was Defeated

Part III

EXCERPT...

The League of Treason

As MacGuire and Butler met in Philadelphia, Jouett Shouse, a protégé of du Pont lawyer and Morgan operative John J. Raskob, had assembled the press to his office in Washington, D.C.'s National Press Building to announce the formation of a new policy advocacy group, the American Liberty League.

SNIP...

Now, in the heat of the summer of 1934, Shouse announced that the Liberty League would be a mass-based movement, whose intention it was, as the nextday's headline on the front page of The New York Times declared, ``To Scan New Deal, `Protect Rights.'|'' The Morgan rag, The Times printed the entirety of Shouse's statement, that had been prepared in conjunction with Raskob. This new organization would, according to Shouse, ``unite several millions of people from all walks of life who are now without organized influence in legislative matters.''

There were, said Shouse, ``no covert purposes. There is no object sought beyond the simple statement in our charter.'' He stressed that there was no partisan purpose, that the group was not ``anti-Roosevelt.''

``The League aims to do just what is outlined in its charter, to organize those who believe in upholding property and constitutional rights into a vocal group,'' Shouse told the press. ``It is not intended to be antagonistic to the administration. We intend to try to help the President.'' Asked how such a group could ``help'' the President, Shouse replied: ``If a tendency towards extreme radicalism developed which the President wished to check we might be most helpful with our organization in which we expect to enlist 2,000,000 to 3,000,000.''

Shouse announced that a group had been self-selected to serve as the League's initiating executive committee. All of them were Morgan-allied stooges: Morgan's lawyer, John W. Davis, the former Democratic presidential candidate; Irenee du Pont, who ran the du Pont fortune now controlled by the Morgan interests; Nathan Miller, the former GOP governor of New York and a Morgan preferred-client list member; Rep. James Wadsworth of New York, a Republican and supporter of the gold standard; and Al Smith, the ``happy warrior'' who had been totally corrupted by Morgan money and who had headed the corporation that built and ran the Empire State Building.

Shouse showed the press letters from financiers, business leaders, and politicians from all over the country applauding the League's formation.

A few weeks later, the chorus of ``villagers,'' as MacGuire had described them, was expanded to include additional prominent leaders of finance and business, with a heavy emphasis on Morgan allies. On its advisory council were, among 200 others: Dr. Samuel Hardin Church, who ran the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, and who was a mouthpiece for the Mellons; W.R. Perkins of National City Bank; Alfred Sloan, the man the Morgans selected to run General Motors; David Reed, a U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, who in May 1932, said on the floor of the Senate, ``I do not often envy other countries and their governments, but I say that if this country ever needed a Mussolini, it needs one now''; E.T. Weir of Weirton Steel, who was also known as a supporter of fascism. On its executive committee was Morgan stooge and former New York Supreme Court Justice Joseph M. Proskauer, the general counsel to the Consolidated Gas Company; J. Howard Pew of Sun Oil and the funder of the openly fascist Sentinels of the Republic; and Hal Roach, the Hollywood producer, who, like many of his peers, was an open admirer of Mussolini, and who was later to become a partner with Mussolini's son in a Hollywood production company, RAM (``Roach and Mussolini'') Films, Inc.

57. What a waste it is to lose one's beautiful mind.
Remember what Barbara Barker said about TV coverage of illegal Iraq invasion?

Her Beautiful Mind

by Joyce Marcel
Published on Thursday, April 29, 2004 by CommonDreams.org

What could be behind the Bush Administration's decision to censor the photographs of flag-draped coffins returning from Iraq? Could it really be, as the government says, to respect "the privacy of the families?" Or is it to hide the realities of war for political reasons? Or is it to protect the delicate sensitivities of the ruling class as Americans die to build them an empire?

As the argument over this censorship continues, I hope people remember a widely-quoted remark made by the president's mother, Barbara Bush, last year during the build-up of the war - the lying time.

"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths," Barbara Bush said on ABC's "Good Morning America" on March 18, 2003. "Oh, I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

We know this particular censorship can't be about privacy. Since the photos were made public last week, many family members have praised their publication. And since the coffins are anonymous, where is the privacy to be protected?

61. The media is very important. That's why Bush already lost most here at DU
Edited on Sun May-29-05 10:38 AM by DrDebug
Because we are informed and get to see and read what we are not supposed to read. If the people at DU only watched TV or read their newspaper then they wouldn't be that outraged.

It was already sad that books and music were not really under their control, but the high proliferation and the ease of searching on the internet have made it a force the BFEE doesn't like. That's why we should enjoy the possibilities while we can ;)

If the pictures in this link below were shown on the major televisionstations or major newspapers then the war in Iraq would be lost, because of the shock value.

http://dahrjamailiraq.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=album32 (Warning: Very graphic)

I remember when Eastern Europe was liberated and the films about the children homes in Romania and Bulgaria were first released and the shockwave which followed, because people couldn't handle those images. The images of war are even worse!

63. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing: HARVARD accused of coddling NAZIs
So here goes the case for more of a good thing in a democracy:

When Harvard played host to Hitler's right-hand man

Peter Conradi
IHT - Tuesday, November 30, 2004

LONDON -- It was one of the most controversial episodes in Harvard history. When Ernst Hanfstaengl, a close aide of Hitler who was the most senior Nazi to have set foot on U.S. soil, attended his 25th reunion at his alma mater on June 16, 1934, his visit reverberated far beyond Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The decision to let such a high-ranking representative of the fledgling Nazi regime join his former classmates made headlines in the East Coast press. From the moment Hanfstaengl's ship landed in New York harbor, his every movement was followed by news photographers, while his arrival at Harvard provoked noisy demonstrations and several arrests.

Seven decades later, the visit has come back to haunt Harvard. At a recent conference on the Holocaust at Boston University, the warm welcome extended to Hanfstaengl was cited by the historian Stephen Norwood as evidence of his charge that Harvard maintained friendly relationship with the Nazis in the mid-1930s. The old battles are set to be fought again.

SNIP (where this particular Nazi got out of Dodge)...

Yet it was as an unashamed anti-Semite and apologist for Hitler that Hanfstaengl took his place in the Harvard parade in 1934, despite one commentator's warning to the university that to welcome him was to endorse a man "whose fundamental activity consisted in organizing, abetting and defending persecution and violence."

Hanfstaengl had an enthusiastic champion in the youthful editors of the Harvard Crimson, the student newspaper. Hanfstaengl, it argued, should even be given an honorary degree "as a tribute to the position to which he has risen." Such a view was far from out of character. The Crimson had been strongly criticized by a student group that had held protests against Nazism and Fascism.

"Harvard accused of coddling Nazis" was the headline in a Chicago Tribune article by Ron Grossman, since archived. In it, historian U of Oklahoma professor Stephen Norwood made clear Harvard wasn't alone in welcoming NAZI turds:

"Yale University, for example, entertained a delegation of Italian Fascists in 1934," Norwood said. "Columbia University hosted Nazi Germany's ambassador, who gave a speech defending Hitler's foreign policy."

Bush's Business Career a Study in Using Connections

by Michael Kranish and John Aloysius Farrell

WASHINGTON - After George W. Bush earned his degree from Harvard Business School, an accomplishment that would one day earn him the distinction of being the only US president to have an MBA, his fondest wish was to become successful in the oil business, as his father had been.

It turned out his extensive family and social connections were as important as what he learned at Harvard, helping him stay afloat at crucial moments and eventually become a multimillionaire.

But now the way that George W. Bush used those connections is causing him political problems that could affect his credibility. His critics say that Bush's business dealings before he became president form a pattern of questionable transactions that should be subject to new scrutiny in light of his calls for corporate responsibility.

In recent days, questions have resurfaced about the way Bush sold $848,000 worth of shares in Harken Energy Corp. just before the stock price slumped, and about Bush's delay in filing the required insider-trading report. The Harken deal helped Bush pay off the loan on his $606,000 investment in the Texas Rangers baseball team, for which he walked away with $14.9 million.

SNIP...

The company's drilling strategy seemed flawed, and the firm seemed destined for bankruptcy until Bush got help from his uncle, Jonathan Bush, and reestablished Arbusto as an investment company that specialized in oilfield tax write-offs. Many of the investors were members of the Bush family and friends. Still, Arbusto was never prosperous, and a subsequent company, called Bush Exploration Co., did not attract enough investors to succeed financially. Bush Exploration was acquired by a company called Spectrum 7, which kept Bush on board as an executive. But that company too ran into difficulties in the mid-1980s when oil prices plunged.

69. ENRON Bush Harvard WTC Oil Connection Dots
To draw this thing together, connect the dots:

"Tom Friedman's 'excellent overview.'"

Smoking Gun in Enrongate - Let the impeachment begin?

By : Mike Hersh - 01/24/02

Former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Curtis Hebert, Jr. is going
public with explosive allegations. Hebert says Enron CEO Ken Lay--the largest
contributor to George Walker Bush--made improper demands.

When Lay threatened that his close friend Bush, would fire Hebert unless he obeyed,
Hebert refused. Lay ordered Bush to fire Hebert, and Bush complied in August 2001.
Hebert has been on record about all of this for months, but he recently made a new,
even more explosive charge. Hebert says Bush also let Lay INTERVIEW him and
other candidates for FERC Chairman in the first place!

In a nutshell: Enron gave Bush $millions to sponsor his rise from a losing Candidate
for the US House to the "leader of the free world." In return, Bush gave Enron "hire
and fire" authority over the FERC, and performed other favors in return for money.
This directly and personally ties Bush to the Enrongate scandal in all its illegality.

Bush betrayed his oath to the American people when he let Ken Lay hand pick
regulatory watchdogs we entrusted to prevent the massive meltdown that cost
Americans $billions. This makes letting the fox guard the hen house look like
tender loving fiduciary care.

This is nothing new for Bush, who fired Texas Funeral Service Commission (TFSC)
director Eliza May in retaliation for her investigations of Service Corporation
International and its CEO Robert Waltrip. Waltrip--like Enron's Lay--is a longtime
Bush patron.

Edited on Sun May-29-05 04:16 PM by oasis
of the documentation they had at its fingertips.

Bush pretending to have only a slight recollection of his meeting Ken Lay was an enormous lie. Bush received high marks when it came to his credibility with the American public. The media dodged their responsiblity by not exposing this liar during the Enron scandal.

Sen.Phil Gramm of Texas and his wife Wendy got out of the Enron mess unchallenged and unscathed by the "liberal" media.

The corporate media has fallen down on the job but we have Octafish and other hard working DUers who continue to get the truth out.

And the truth shall set us free.

88. Why would Osama bin Laden want to kill Dubya, his former business partner?
Lots of people on those lists, unfortunately. Here's one name that stands out.

Jim Hatfield detailed how Osama bin Laden planned to crash a plane loaded with explosives into the G-8 summit in Genoa Italy in APRIL 2001. Bush slept offshore aboard a US warship and the meeting was guarded by a ring of SAM batteries.

No wonder Ashcroft stopped flying commercial. Maybe the BFEE should have told the rest of the flying public. Who knows what might not have happened on September 11, 2001.

It was the last article Hatfield wrote. A “suicide.”

Why would Osama bin Laden want to kill Dubya, his former business partner?

By James Hatfield

Editor's note: In light of last week's horrific events and the Bush administration's reaction to them, we are reprising the following from the last column Jim Hatfield wrote for Online Journal prior to his tragic death on July 18:

July 3, 2001—There may be fireworks in Genoa, Italy, this month, too.

A plot by Saudi master terrorist, Osama bin Laden, to assassinate Dubya during the July 20 economic summit of world leaders, was uncovered after dozens of suspected Islamic militants linked to bin Laden's international terror network were arrested in Frankfurt, Germany, and Milan, Italy, in April.

German intelligence services have stated that bin Laden is covertly financing neo-Nazi skinhead groups throughout Europe to launch another terrorist attack at a high-profile American target—his first since the bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen last October.

According to counter-terrorism experts quoted in Germany's largest newspaper, the attack on Dubya might be a James Bond-like aerial strike in the form of remote-controlled airplanes packed with plastic explosives.

SNIP...

In June 1977, Dubya formed his own drilling company, Arbusto Energy ("arbusto" means "bush" in Spanish), in Midland, Texas. Like his father before him, Dubya founded his oil business with the financial backing of investors, including James R. Bath, a Houston businessman whom Dubya apparently first met when they were in the same Texas Air National Guard unit. (Interestingly, both Dubya and Bath were both suspended from flying in August and September 1972, respectively, for "failure to accomplish annual medical examination.")

The odd thing is that Hatfield didn't believe Duhbya was under a real threat, just that he was exhibiting his usual cowardly behavior. Truth of the matter, there were at least a handful of dots that Bush managed to connect: Hijacked -- Jet planes -- bin Laden -- Crash -- Bush. Doesn't make any difference for Hatfield, may he rest in peace. Dead is dead.

87. 2003: Bush SILENCED War Critics in Intel Community
It wasn't just DU that knew WTF these BFEE turds were up to. People in the intel business -- Patriots -- stood up the little turd from Crawford. Of course, they've all been canned, reassigned, driven out of office -- but they told the truth, which is more than Bushler has ever done.

White House Silenced Experts

who Questioned Iraq Intel Info Six Months before War

by Jason Leopold

Six months before the United States was dead-set on invading Iraq to rid the country of its alleged weapons of mass destruction, experts in the field of nuclear science warned officials in the Bush administration that intelligence reports showing Iraq was stockpiling chemical and biological weapons was unreliable and that the country did not pose an imminent threat to its neighbors in the Middle East or the U.S.

But the dissenters were told to keep quiet by high-level administration officials in the White House because the Bush administration had already decided that military force would be used to overthrow the regime of Iraq’s President Saddam Hussein, interviews and documents have revealed.

The most vocal opponent to intelligence information supplied by the CIA to the hawks in the Bush administration about the so-called Iraqi threat to national security was David Albright, a former United Nations weapons inspector and the president and founder of the Institute for Science and International Security, a Washington, D.C. based group that gathers information for the public and the White House on nuclear weapons programs.

With the likelihood of finding WMD in Iraq becoming increasingly remote, new information, such as documents and interviews provided by Albright and other weapons experts, prove that the White House did not suffer so much from an intelligence failure on Iraq’s WMD, but instead shows how the Bush administration embellished reams of intelligence and relied on murky intelligence in order to get Congress and the public to back the war. That may explain why it is becoming so difficult to find WMD: Because it’s entirely likely that the weapons don’t exist.

“A critical question is whether the Bush Administration has deliberately misled the public and other governments in playing a "nuclear card" that it knew would strengthen public support for war,” Albright said in a March 10 assessment of the CIA’s intelligence, which is posted on the ISIS website.

90. Don't Forget Marvelous Marvin-9/11 Security Courtesy of Marvin Bush
9/11 Security
Courtesy of Marvin Bush

Marvin P. Bush, the president’s younger brother, was a principal in a company called Securacom that provided security for the World Trade Center, United Airlines, and Dulles International Airport. The company, Burns noted, was backed by KuwAm, a Kuwaiti-American investment firm on whose board Marvin Burns also served.

According to its present CEO, Barry McDaniel, the company had an ongoing contract to handle security at the World Trade Center "up to the day the buildings fell down."

The company lists as government clients "the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S Air force, and the Department of Justice," in projects that "often require state-of-the-art security solutions for classified or high-risk government sites."

Stratesec (Securacom) differs from other security companies which separate the function of consultant from that of service provider. The company defines itself as a "single-source" provider of "end-to-end" security services, including everything from diagnosis of existing systems to hiring subcontractors to installing video and electronic equipment. It also provides armored vehicles and security guards.

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/911security.html

Former investors in South Florida's Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. recently filed a $60-million lawsuit accusing majority shareholders IAT Group and Palestinian chairman Mohammad Abu-Ghazaleh of paying bribes to buy the banana and pineapple produce company in 1996 at a "ridiculously low price." The company denies wrongdoing.

Marvin Bush, the brother of President Bush and Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, joined the board of directors of Fresh Del Monte in 1998, after the alleged events took place. Marvin Bush was re-elected to the company's board this year for a term ending in 2005, and served on the board's critically important audit and compensation committees. In October, Bush decided to resign from the board at the end of 2002. Without any public notice of Bush's planned departure by Fresh Del Monte, news of his pending resignation was not reported until last month.

<snip>

-- At Jacksonville's Ideon Group, a credit-card marketer, real estate developer Jeb Bush joined a board in 1995 that paid directors $50,000-plus a year, a record sum at the time in Florida. Ideon CEO and Bush fan Paul Kahn earlier had held a fundraiser for Bush's 1994 campaign for governor (Bush lost that one). Kahn even wrote to Jeb's father, former President George Bush, to tell him "how happy we are to have your son, Jeb, on our board of directors." By 1996, Kahn was out, Ideon was a financial disaster and Ideon directors faced multiple shareholder lawsuits. The company was later sold.

-- At Colorado's Silverado Savings & Loan, Neil Bush served as a director of an S&L whose chief would be sentenced to 31/2 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to stealing $8.7-million from investors. Though Bush never was charged with criminal wrongdoing, he agreed to pay $50,000 in 1992 to settle a civil lawsuit by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. As for Silverado, its collapse cost U.S. taxpayers a whopping $1-billion.

MARVIN BUSH EMPLOYEE'S MYSTERIOUS DEATH – Connections to 9/11?

Washington Post Sits on Story for a Week

October 10 , 2003, 1200 PDT, (FTW) -- WASHINGTON, At around 9 PM on September 29, Fairfax County, Virginia police responded to a 911 call describing an accident. However, they soon discovered they were not dealing with a routine emergency but the mysterious death of an employee of the 47-year old brother of President George W. Bush, venture capitalist Marvin Bush. Sixty-two year old Bertha Champagne, described as a long time "baby sitter" for Marvin and Margaret Bush's two children, son Walker, 13, and daughter Marshall, 17, was found crushed to death by her own vehicle in a driveway in front of the Bush family home in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County. Champagne reportedly lived at the Bush family home.

Champagne had left the residence to retrieve something from her car, which police say had somehow been left in gear. According to the police report, the car rolled forward and pinned the woman between it and a small building next to the driveway (possibly a checkpoint built by the Secret Service when Marvin's father, George H. W. Bush, was president). The car crossed Edgehill Drive, a small street in front of the Bush compound. The vehicle then crossed a busy two-lane street, Fort Hunt Road, finally coming to rest in a wooded area across the street that adjoins the prestigious Belle Haven Country Club. No explanations have been offered as to why the vehicle did not move until Champagne was in a position to be crushed.

According to two articles in the Progressive Populist written by Margie Burns, from 1993 to 2000, Bush served on the board of Securacom (since renamed Stratesec). The chairman of the board of Stratesec is Wirt D. Walker III, a cousin of Marvin and George W. Bush. Securacom had contracts to provide security for Dulles International Airport (the airport from which American Airlines Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon, originated) and the World Trade Center in New York. Securacom's backers include a number of Kuwaitis through a company called KuwAm Corp (Kuwaiti-American Corp.). Stratesec also has Saudi investors. Walker also serves as a managing director of KuwAm, which maintains offices within the Watergate complex along with Riggs Bank, on whose board Bush's uncle, Jonathan Bush, sits. Saudi Princess Haifa al Faisal, the wife of Saudi Ambassador to the US Prince Bandar, used a Riggs account to funnel money to Omar al Bayoumi and Osama Basnan, two Saudi students in California associated with two of the 911 hijackers.

Until November 2002, Bush served on the board of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc. (formerly Houston Casualty Company), a re-insurer for the World Trade Center. Bush still serves as an adviser to the firm. Walker serves as chief executive officer of Aviation General, an aircraft company backed by KuwAm. Aviation General, formerly Commander Aircraft, brokered the sale of airplanes to the National Civil Aviation Training Organization (NCATO), located in Giza, Egypt, the hometown of lead hijacker Mohammed Atta. NCATO is the only civilian pilot training school in Egypt. NCATO has a training agreement with Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Florida, the flight school that was investigated by the FBI for possibly training at least one of the 911 hijackers.

SECRECY SURROUNDS A BUSH BROTHER'S ROLE IN 9/11 SECURITY

by Margie Burns
Tue Jul 6, 2004

Washington, D.C. WASHINGTON, Jan 19, 2003 -- A company that provided security at New York City's World Trade Center, Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C., and to United Airlines between 1995 and 2001, was backed by a private Kuwaiti-American investment firm with ties to a brother of President Bush and the Bush family, according to records obtained by the American Reporter.

Two planes hijacked on Sept. 11, 2001 were United Airlines planes, and another took off from Dulles International Airport; two, of course, slammed into the World Trade Center. But the Bush Administration has never disclosed the ties of a presidential brother and the Bush family with the firm that intersected the weapons and targets on a day of national tragedy.

Marvin P. Bush, a younger brother of George W. Bush, was a principal in the company from 1993 to 2000, when most of the work on the big projects was done. But White House responses to 9/11 have not publicly disclosed the company's part in providing security to any of the named facilities, and many of the public records revealing the relationships are not public.

Nonetheless, public records reveal that the firm, formerly named Securacom, listed Bush on its board of directors and as a significant shareholder. The firm, now named Stratesec, Inc., is located in Sterling, Va., a suburb of Washington, D.C., and emphasizes federal clients. Bush is no longer on the board.

SNIP...

The American Stock Exchange delisted Stratesec's stock in October 2002. Securacom also had a contract to provide security at Los Alamos National Laboratories, notorious for its security breaches and physical and intellectual property thefts.

According to its present CEO, Barry McDaniel, the company had an ongoing contract to handle security at the World Trade Center "up to the day the buildings fell down." Yet instead of being investigated, the company and companies involved with it have benefited from legislation pushed by the Bush White House and rubber-stamped by Congressional Republicans. Stratesec, its backer KuwAm, and their corporate officers stand to benefit from limitations on liability and national-security protections from investigation provided in bills since 9/11.

93. How About Them Star Wars™?
Those with long memories may recall how leaders of the MI-complex have repeated a certain, unsettling theme: How the world would unite if attacked from outer space.

General Douglas MacArthur, 1955:

“The Soviets and the democracies will adopt the best characteristics of each other and, in the process of many years, there will not be a strict line of demarcation between their ideals; therefore no causes for war between them...because of the developments of science all the countries on earth will have to unite to survive and make a common front against attack by people from other planets.”

President Pruneface Reagan told Mikhail Gorbachev:

“I couldn't help but say to him, just how easy his task and mine might be in these meetings that we held if suddenly there was a threat to this world from another species from another planet outside in the universe. We’d forget all the little local differences that we have between our countries and we would find out once and for all that we really are all human beings here on the Earth together.”

Henry Kissinger, 1991:

"Today America would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told that there were an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead to deliver them from this evil. The one thing that man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by the world government

WHY? BECAUSE THERE’S MONEY TO BE MADE IN STAR WARS (If the aliens were going to destroy us, they probably could get around any weapons the likes of Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Feith could envision.)

Space weaponry

The Bush Administration and space weapons

by Taylor Dinerman
Monday, May 9, 2005

One of the great mysteries of the Bush Administration’s military space policy was recently cleared up—sort of. Since January 2001, activists on both side of the missile defense debate have been waiting for the Pentagon to announce that it is going to restart the Brilliant Pebbles space-based interceptor program that Bill Clinton’s first Secretary of Defense, Les Aspin, canceled in 1993 with the words, “I’m taking the stars out of Star Wars.”

In 1992, the previous Bush Administration came up with a concept called G-PALS, for Global Protection Against Limited Strikes. Most of America’s allies, and even Yeltsin’s Russia, agreed to go along with this. The centerpiece was to be 2000 orbiting Brilliant Pebbles. The technology had been developed and was being tested. Europe was even talking about an E-PALS to complement the US system. Saddam’s Scud launches against Saudi Arabia and Israel during the first Gulf War were still fresh in people’s memories. No one wanted to repeat the experience.

In the four years since taking office, this administration has withdrawn from the ABM treaty, begun the installation of an national missile defense system, and continued work on both a sea-based interceptor (SM-3) and on an airborne laser installed in a 747 (YAL-1). None of these projects have been cheap or easy, and the process of integrating them into an effective system of systems has been slowed up not only by the inevitable software problems but by political debates, both inside the Pentagon and internationally.

It seems that foes of “space weaponization” inside the administration have been able to divert policy in ways that make effective military use of space less and less likely.
Curiously, Bush has had to take all the political pain involved in withdrawing from the ABM Treaty and building an operational missile defense system without being willing to go all the way and make that system fully effective, or at least as effective as possible given the limits of today’s technology. On this issue it is striking how much more conservative and bold his father’s administration was.

It seems that foes of “space weaponization” inside the administration have been able to divert policy in ways that make effective military use of space less and less likely. They are sincere people who believe that it is in America’s interest to keep weapons out of space, or at least for some other nation to be the first to deploy and use these weapons. Unfortunately in such a scenario the first target would be America’s military space assets.

94. Sounds like the story line from that TV series "Dallas"
But this is reality. There were real body bags in Vietnam. Kennedy did indeed get assassinated. Nixon got shown the door. Prescott Bu$h did fund the Nazis as did Harriman during WWII.

The treason goes on and on, generation after generation.

And they get away with it.
