Has anyone heard of "Operation Trident Fury"?
I just heard about it now, to all intents and purposes the operation is finished or I would have posted it in LBN.

Apparently in a detailed article in the Comox Valley Echo (a small town newspaper) it shows how they turned Vancouver Island into North & South Korea, they "re-grid" the island to the exact same longtitudal and latitudal co-ordinates including targets as the Korean penisula. They apparently illustrated in the article a detailed picture of the Island transposed as North & South Korea complete with the known targets.

This newspaper doesn't have a website. I'll see if I can get a copy of it.

CANADIAN NAVY LEADS MAJOR MULTI-NATIONAL NAVAL-AIR EXERCISE
ESQUIMALT B.C.
- Canadian Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard units will work together with naval and air assets from the United States in the largest exercise of its kind to take place off the West Coast of Vancouver Island from May 16 to 27. The task group for the exercise Trident Fury, organized by the navy’s Maritime Forces Pacific, will be under Canadian leadership, commanded by Commodore Roger Girouard, Commander of Canadian Fleet Pacific. The exercise is aimed at advancing Canada’s ability to respond to offshore threats and unlawful acts from within a coalition environment.

Over 2000 personnel will participate in the exercise Trident Fury, composed of five Canadian navy vessels, three Canadian Coast Guard vessels, three US navy vessels, and air assets including CF-18s and United States Air National Guard F-16 and F-15 fighter aircraft, KC-135 air to air refuelling aircraft, NATO Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACs) and others. The close coordination between the Canadian navy, air force and US assets during this exercise will demonstrate the benefits of joint operations, and the importance of close cooperation with our allies as outlined recently in the Defence Policy Statement.

The scenarios for exercise Trident Fury have been designed around the implementation of a United Nations Security Council Resolution. This will increase the interoperability of coalition forces by developing coordination and communications in support of shared national maritime requirements. It also helps Canadian sailors to maintain the skills that are required to work in a task group environment during international operations.

And this is pretty weird...

U.S. serviceman stabbed five times in dispute, airlifted to Victoria hospital

COURTENAY, B.C. (CP) - A military mechanic from the U.S. Air National Guard is in stable condition in a Victoria hospital after suffering stab wounds to his lower neck, back and chest in this Vancouver Island city on Thursday.

The 28-year-old victim and a colleague from the 173 Fighter Wing based in Klamath Falls, Oregon had been going for a meal when a truck pulled up. A man jumped out and attacked the victim who was not in uniform. A fight ensued and the attacker stabbed the serviceman five times with a knife. He fled before the RCMP could arrive.

2. "implementation of a United Nations Security Council Resolution"
Oh God, they're planning to use any old SC resolution to justify an invasion now. Has a UN SC resolution ever advocated invasion or bombing or murder in general? Not that I know of.

One thing we know, the resolutions willl be "enforced" very selectively, and any country being invaded will have lots of oil. North Korea is safe.

5. I caught that line too. Anybody know what UN resolution this refers to?
I hope it doesn't go back to 1950. Would also really like to see that grid pattern story. Is there an Island in Canada as big as the Korean peninusula where they practice bombing runs?

So, is Emperor W going to lead NATO and others against North Korea AND Iran in June?

I wouldn't want to be holding South Korean or Israeli assets right now. I really don't like this feeling I'm getting.

7. It took place over top of Vancouver Island on the west coast
where I live. They have a few armed forces base, one of which is in Comox and close to Nanoose Bay where they test nuclear submarines and we even let your American subs up here to play. There's always protests but they rarely ever make the news. Sound familiar?

3. After looking at William Arkins'

Code Names, Trident looks to be a generic first name for naval joint exercises. There's an ongoing operation, Trident Arch, which involves hospital ships, Trident D'Or, which is a Mediterranean exercise arranged by the French (in which the US participates, hence our own code name), so Trident Fury is likely a newer joint exercise, as the article implies.

This may not signify much in terms of current US hostility toward NK. Canada was a participant in the Korean War, and the inference that this is in furtherance of UN Security Council resolutions could mean ongoing peacekeeping requirements of the 1953 cease fire, for all we know.

That said, it could have been set up at this time to put another scare into the North Koreans, hoping yet another show of force would get them to do what we want regarding negotiations. Not the first time something like would have been done for that purpose.
