On this, the 800th DAY OF THE WAR, check in with your thoughts
For my part, my thoughts go out to

All the Iraqi, American, British, Australian, Italian, Bulgarian, Romanian, and Polish people who have died behind this war, and all those others I've left off this list. For the civilians and the children and the combatants of all sides and the journalists and the farmers and all the others: each life a poem, each face a portrait, each carrying a world of love and dreams that would not see the 800th day of the War.

All those who have been touched by the tragedy of this war, with physical or psychical wounds: for all the broken bodies and broken hearts, who gather the pieces on this 800th day of the War.

All who watch in stunned silence or rising voices, twice removed but nevertheless running on the shivering hot circuit of the War, on this its 800th day.

It is fitting that it is soon Memorial Day in America, during which we gather up these lost bits of Memory, often too painful to intrude into our days, and submit them to reflection. It is fitting that we should reflect on all those named here, individually and in their totality, and that we should remember these 800 days of the War.

1. And just as I open this post, an ambulance drives by
And there goes ambulance number two.

Rest in Peace

Lourey, Matthew
Verdugo, Russell J.
Wimberg, David Neil
Siler, Alfred Barton
Hahn, Peter J.
Wallace, Jeff
Fisher, Dustin
Drier, Charles A. "Chuck"
Brazee, Joshua T.
Perez, Christopher S.
Varnado, Daniel
Barron, Bryan Edward
Lunsford, Audrey Daron
Parker, Saburant "Sabe"
Wilkerson, Charles T.
Schall, Kenneth J.
Seesan, Aaron N.
Creamean, Tyler L.

And those are just the latest additions.

I watched on the television today as yet another politician spoke
Long after the gunfire had faded, far away the battle's smoke
The speaker in a starched white shirt, black paint in our skin's crease
To our unending chagrin spoke he:
"We regret yesterday's unfortunate losses, the price paid for peace"

There is much you cannot understand:
For each loss is to us a brother killed
Not from birth, perhaps, but loved just the same
To some just a statistic, number, or mark on a chart
But each a mother and fathers' son

We don't direct policy or choose where we fight
Nor complain or question the wrong or the right
We don't draft treaties or question our call
No - we are but simple soliders all.

But know this, hear it loud and clear
We don't fight for you, nor give you any thought
We fight for our buddies and our team
We care not for those who don't understand,
Many, at times like this, it would seem.

Remember Casey, Dom, Rich, Lorenzo, James and Jamie
Who brought the fight, unrelenting, to the enemy
Remember Jim and Cornell
We will remember how they lived and how they fell

Remember Cliff, Ray, Donovan, Tommy and Wild Bill
Brave Night Stalkers whose hearts are now still,
Remember Dan, Earl, Gary, Randy, and Matthew
Whose uncommon valor is far and few

For we, the chosen few, know that behind the "unfortunate losses"
Lie the hearts, souls, and minds of brave and daring men
Who loved their country and believed in their creed
Sacrificing all without question...
To them all we send our love, and Godspeed.

9. Secretary General Annan called Iraq an illegal war
Impeachment means a trial for high crimes and misdemeanors. Well the occupation of Iraq is illegal and when Annan said it was illegal, people should have been calling for a trial for Bu$h. I will always call for his impeachment trial and dam the Congress for not doing the same. The reason Congress does not want a trial is not because Bu$h is not guilty, but because everyone knows damned well he is and they (Congress)are conspirators to this crime and hope that ignoring it will make it go away.

Annon says Iraq War is illegal as reported by the BBC- http://tinyurl.com/4ndcw

11. It is an illegal war and Bush will remember for his illegal war
And he may seem very strong right now, but the American people are a good people and ultimately the people will hold George Bush accountable for what he has done.

Remember Gandhi

'When I despair, I remember that all through history, the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it, always'
- Mahatma Gandhi

'Mr. Kinnoch, I beg you to accept that there is no people on earth who would not prefer their own bad government to the good government of an alien power.'
- Mahatma Gandhi

5. What are we supposed to be remembering?
The Long Rain.
Like tears falls rain
Like tears falls rain
Like tears falls rain
I heard a hurricane

Like blood falls tears
Like blood falls tears
Like blood falls tears
thick drops all the years

One day we'll say,
Rain, rain go away
The way it is is bound to change
The way it is is bound in chains

Like rain falls blood
Like rain falls blood
Like rain falls blood
til the day becomes a flood

One day we'll say,
Rain, rain go away
The way it is is bound to change
The way it is is bound in chains

8. Very moving. May I please ask
why your moniker is Alcibiades mystery? I never got into the Plato writings on Alcibiades and his history, as I have read it briefly, is not particularly relevant to our political scene unless I have been missing something, which is indeed a possibility. I'd love to know why you chose the name!

12. A wish, a prayer, a thought of peace

Lead me from death to life; from lies to truth. Lead me from despair to hope; from fear to trust. Lead me from hatred to love; from war to peace. Let peace fill our hearts; our world; our universe. PEACE; PEACE PEACE.

16. you would think....
....in the year of two thousand and five, and after just getting through with the bloodiest century ever, things would be different....

....I amazes me how we can still find bull$hit reasons to slaughter each other....I think REAL democracy has yet to be seen on the planet....and REAL power is definately NOT in the hands of the people....

19. Thoughts on day 800.
My thoughts go out to the children who've died or have been injured or orphaned due to our golden moment.

My thoughts go out to the soldiers on all sides who will never live or if they do live, will never stop having nightmares, because of the Murican golden moment.

My thoughts go out to the ancient artifacts in the Baghdad museum that was destroyed, lost or stolen, due to another golden moment.

My thoughts go out to the Baghdad zoo animals that died because of our golden moment war.

My thoughts go out to the future children who will suffer the effects of the DU and those that are already here suffering because of the DU golden moment.

My thoughts go back to revisit the bullshit lies to get us into this golden moment.

My thoughts are not golden.
