The sole purpose of the American Media: to make us feel alone and helpless
That is their job, to make us feel like no one cares, that nothing can be done to change the status quo. As long as we repeat their lies, as long as we believe their message things are helpless.

Think about it. Decide to do something. Your job as a DUer is to get the truth out there.

Our biggest problems are the media and the voting machines, what can you do?

You can call your congress people and demand verified voting, # 202 224 3121.

You can print up articles about the media's ownership, about their failure to cover voting problems, about their failure to cover important stories like the UK war memo.

You can send everyone on your email list congress's phone number.

You can write letters to the editor of your local paper, you can start your own newspaper.

You can organize protests.

You can do something.

You must do something.

4. They promote fear and consumerism.
Get scared, buy more stuff, repeat.

We can all do something. Get active on the local level. Organize and attend protests. Do voter registration. Call and meet with your local representatives about issues that concern you. Run for local office. Talk to friends, urge them to pay attention, get active, too. I know it is hard right now, but all this makes a difference.

My feeling, if we win, I had a part of that. If we lose, I know I did everything I could to avert the disaster,

5. And we let them by not calling them on it.
I hate that posts about media reform ALWAYS are gone in a matter of hours.

With all the bitching you'd think that folks would be more active.

8. Turn it off
.......and tell all your friends to do the same.

As long as people continue to watch we can bitch and complain all we want and it is unlikely they will change.

If we would only all quit watching.

Doesn't seem like much but it IS a start.

I noticed on John Stewart the other night that CNN now has a whole show devoted to covering blogs. They are in trouble and they know it.

Imagine watching a TV show about blogs, when you could be:

1. Watching a great movie OR

2. Reading a great BLOG!

9. You're not alone...
Edited on Fri May-27-05 03:58 PM by CJCRANE
there's 5.7 billion people out here in the rest of the world...

On edit: I'm not sure if that's comforting or scary, but at least you know there's other people on your side.
