8. It might take a foreign news agency like the BBC to bring * to justice.

Is the BBC less influenced by Blair than the American Press clearly is by Bush.

It is so sad! I LOVE my country. If we could have brought * to justice ourselves - through a free press that holds politicians accountable - I would be so proud. It would be a statement to the world that the U.S. has a great system of checks and balances to keep anything from getting too far out of hand. That is what I was raised to believe. That the U.S. had so many checks and balances, the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches, the 50 states with their own agendas and voice in our republic, a free press, etc.; that no one person or party could do too much damage without it all coming back to them. I feel so naive now. I feel like I'm watching a horror movie where a great way of life is about to disappear.

Who would have thought that the U.S. would become an aggressive nation invading countries to plunder their natural resources? (Of course I guess that is how this country started - we took what we wanted from the Native Americans. I'm pretty sure we took Hawaii by force.)

I'm not sure about Hawaii, haven't studied enough of that but wouldn't be surprised, but I think it will take Tony Blair to bring Bush down too. Clearly we're powerless unless by some miracle we gain more seats in 2006 both in Congress and the Senate. Hopefully Blair will squeal about Bush and he will bring him down with the international court. If that doesn't happen only other way justice could be served is when he's no longer a president and a group like the ACLU can deal with him.

Seriously though, Hawaiians were "barbarians" who needed to be "civilized" -- despite the fact that Hawaii had a superior governement and more advanced technology.

This nation has always been imperialistic, we've just pretended not to be since the early 1900's.

Similar to the top-down attack on NPR, only worse 'cause more remains of the BBC to be destroyed.
