Since the Democrats have stalled the Bolton nomination,
can Bush do a recess appointment to get him in or is that only for judges? I heard something about that on Imus this morning (though you have to take what he says with a grain of salt).

1. Yes, he could do a recess appointment. It wouldn't surprise me.

2. Only when the Senate is in recess,
which it will be until June 6.

3. Very possible....
So the Senate could get back to the right-wing judges...

4. If they do...you will know just how arrogant and desperate they are.
They are a PNAC troupe with their little marionette and the their loyal army of operative schemers behind them - the media, the Fed Society (the Constitution changers), many think tankers, foundations, organizations, and Israel. If that is not enough, they have religious right loyalty and their big demanding mouths and lastly - the bankers who help them cover up the missing monies.

Yes, desperate. They are rescue their takeover over of the Middle East and go after all left or right leaning leaders who have oil or other resources - wherever they are.

5. Rove's Probably Polling That Right Now
The gambit...after the pounding the GOOP has taken over the past week, how far to the wall do you go for this doofus? Recess appointemnts for judges work (Bill Lan Lee got one from Clinton) since the tenure is temporary and you rarely hear from a judge. Bolton's in a high profile position...anytime his mug shows up on TV the questions about his appointment will come up. This regime wants the guy and wants his selection "clean".

Believe it or not there are Repugnicans now distancing themselves from both this regime and the Neo-Cons and fundies. Obviously enough now that it's causing Rove to weigh things that he would have rammed through just a week ago.

Forcing another vote on Bolton would put some Repugnican Senators in bad lights again. Voinovich's crying, Hagel looked like he'd vote Bolton down, as would Chaffee, Collins and Snowe. 6 votes will kill this nomination...and McConnell can't guarantee there isn't one or two more surprises in his caucus. Yesterday's cloiture vote was a test among the Repugnicans to see how solid things were...that's how messed up McConnel and Frist are right now. Who knows if a McCain won't come out the morning of a floor vote and say he will vote the nomination down.

If Rove's polls show there's a political benefit...especially from the money-senders...the fundies and John Birchers to make ramming Bolton through over Frist's head, he'll do it. If not, my bets are Rove already has options C, D & E set to go. Bolton's their boy, they're not gonna give up on this one.
