Why would this surprise me?
Some of you may recall the letter I posted earlier this week to the RNC from a voter outlining his reasons for switching party affiliation. I looked up the state and county party addresses to copy those organizations on the letter. When in the county GOP website I noticed the announcement for their regular Executive Committee meetings.

The executive committee of the county Democrats meets at a facility of the state university system. The executive committee of the county Republicans meets at a Baptist church. I'm surprised that my first reaction was surprise. It makes perfect sense, right?

1. And You Just Found Out About This Now?
It's been going on for 25 years or longer. It started with the Xtian Coalition and their "outreaches" that joined local parties with churches. I recall someone screaming about the ethical conflicts of the Repugnicans holding up in a church (this party had their offices in rented space in the church!) and no one said boo. It wasn't illegal as long as the church itself didn't "endorse" a specific candidate (even though they handed out voters sheets every election).

But then I grew up in Chicago. My grandmother was a poll judge for decades and every election the ritual was the same...they drew straws and the short one played Repugnican precinct judge for the day. LOL.

2. What can I say?
I'm naive and sheltered. I just never bothered to look.

3. Glad You're Looking Now...
And we need more to shine the light on what's happening. Democrats are waaaaaaaay behind in so many ways of organizing and maintaining grassroots organizations.
