Ladies and Gents, Your 2005 Base Closure List
In the first round of military base closings since 1995 and the fifth round overall, the Pentagon has proposed closing 33 major domestic military installations and scaling down operations at 29 others (drying them out for the next round).Some 775 smaller bases--inluding numerous National Guard and reserve facilities--also would be closed or reduced in size under Defense Secretary DR's recommendations, with assets moving onto active duty bases. Some of the largest active duty bases that would be closed under the Pentagon plan, and the personnel it would affect.

I wonder how many civilians and small towns this will touch?

A Blue State. No wonder. This will hurt everyone in the Eastern portion of my State.

Glad to know we are spending Billions on building bases in Iraq though..... :sarcasm:
