Ashcroft hitches his wagon to the "Homeland Security" gravy train
This is old news, but it slipped past my radar screen.

Ashcroft's firm will advise companies, help countries counter terrorism

SAM HANANEL

Associated Press

WASHINGTON - After more than two decades in public service, former senator and attorney general John Ashcroft is moving to the private sector to help business clients navigate through the nation's capital.

Ashcroft is starting a consulting firm, called the Ashcroft Group, with longtime aide David Ayres and prominent Washington lobbyist Juleanna Glover Weiss, a former press secretary to Vice President Dick Cheney and adviser to Ashcroft when he was in the Senate.

"The Ashcroft Group will represent big companies with big problems," Weiss said Monday. "It wouldn't be outside the realm of opportunity for the Ashcroft team to consult with other countries as to how to strengthen their anti-terror measures or their law enforcement capabilities."

Ashcroft, 62, recently ended four years as the nation's chief law enforcement officer, much of the time devoted to fighting terrorism after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

1. If Ashcroft was any good at preventing terrorism,
9/11 wouldn't have happened in the first place.

Yet another case of a Bushco member being rewarded for incompetence.

Feh!

2. Ashcroft is incapable of an original thought.
He looks at Giuliani rolling in dough and thinks, "I can do that."

What a dipshit!

3. I just read that Weiss also helped Giuliani set up his shop
She and her husband Jeffrey Petrozello (and his brother Michael) have business and personal connections with the Saudi royal family, Ahmed Chalabi and the new Iraqi government. Hmmm.
