Go after the theocrats or the corporate-crats?

I think the theocrats are the best target. They should be forced out into the light of day, where they can only wither and die.

If the GOP weren't consolidating power at the very peak, it wouldn't be so dangerous, and it wouldn't be necessary to think about how to disarm and dispatch the party. It would just be an annoyingly right wing, pro-money party, which could very easily be painted as the enemy of working people everywhere and regularly defeated in elections. But because it has sold its "soul" to the theocratic enemies of democracy, it has bought a sheen of "morality" to appeal to the irrational right, who are only too ready to believe such idiocies as that Bush is God's president and the neocon agenda in the Middle East is in keeping with Biblical prophesy.

But the theocratic patriarchs are extremely dangerous, not only because they enable the corporate-crats, but because of their own quest for absolute power. Their beliefs demonstrate their loose grasp on reality and their willingness to take any action to further their cause. Since the 1980s (at least) they have set an agenda to take control of the American government--especially of the courts, but their aim, it seems clear, is to create the conditions for total control of the making and execution of "moral" laws. And they have carried out this quest in secret--out of the eyes of the media, in any case--because they know that they are vulnerable to attack from democrats and others who don't share their absolutist vision.

Each time the corporate-crats move closer to their own goal of consolidating power, the theocrats give them cover by attacking their enemies as enemies of America. Alone, the corporate-crats couildn't get away with it. But with the protection of the theocrats, they just keep barreling ahead.
