6. Russ Has Always Been My Hero

No knock on Paul Wellstone, who I admired greatly as well, but I've always thought Russ was the foremost citizen-politician of my lifetime. He's refused the big money and he truly votes principal. Plus there isn't a person from Wisconsin I've met that's said a bad word about the job he's done for that state.

I used to be envious of him until my state, Illinois, got a pair of our own top flight Democratic Senators.

why Dems as well as a surprising number of moderate and not so moderate pukes like him in Wisconsin. He definitely has honesty and integrity going for him. And that's miles ahead of many politicians from both parties.
