1. Only took 'em one day to figure it out!
Wonder how long the celebrations here will continue.

3. From the No Kidding files.....
The more I think about this deal the less I like it. And I pretty much thought it sucked hard from the get go. Bill Press has a simple, to the point, and appropriately negative post about the deal on the Huffington Post. It was direct and accurate in my opinion.

We lost the battles against Owen, Pryor, and Brown, gave the right to decide what "extreme circumstances" were, and bought ourselves absolutely nothing but a little bit of time.

4. Yeah, typical Democrat deal making-
I give in to you in item A, and in exchange, you screw me on item B.

5. Of course we were the losers.
Those seven repukes would never have agreed to it otherwise. Would have loved to have heard those negotiations. Repukes: "Ok we get immediate votes on three neanderthals who will be quickly confirmed. You get our word that when the chimp nominates an extreme nutcase in the future, we reserve the right to take your right to filibuster away." Dems: "Thank you so much for kicking our asses. Where do we sign?"

7. And the Democrats say....
"Thank you sir. May I have another?"

10. Most any compromise Lieberman was involved in was a loser for Dems
Lieberman was one of the "centrists" involved in this deal.

6. And the evidence of that will be sitting on the 5th Circuit Court.
But, we must cheer our brave senators for their "victory".

More "victories" are waiting in the wings for more compromises from our heroes.

8. but, but but we are weak and without power
In that case why prolong the charade?

The illusion of an opposition party serves them, not us.

12. By Gum, Mr. Webster, I think you've got it!
Charade it is indeed. The Democrats are getting very good at telling us all the things they can't do because they are "weak and without power" except, of course, to bow to the Republicans demands. And, the only course they favor is to become even more like the Republicans so they can become strong and have power.

Politicians. Don't you just love 'em? In the real world, they'd be locked up for fraud.

9. Owen
Owen is supposedly the least offensive of the upcomming judges. She who voted consistently against consumer's interests, is pro-life to the core, and worked hand in hand with Karl Rove during her Texas tenure. What sort of extreme circumstance are they waiting for?

But at least the filibuster still exists... they just need to gather the gumption to use it.

11. Of course they lost
But damn, am I thankful there is still a filibuster and the country didn't turn into some kind of sickening dictatorship. There is still checks and balances and hope yet to stop the slide.

13. I don't feel like we particularly won anything,either
they get there partisan judges and we didn't get anything that wasn't already in place. Tony Snow is damning McCain, however, and saying very nasty things about what a traitor he is. How they will all work to see that he never wins another election, etc. Oh, the repubs had us spanked because they threatened to keep them all in session and not get to go to summer 'recess'. Cute, I don't think they feel like they have given up a thing by not killing the filibuster. They just want it to appear so, so we don't realize they get their up or down votes and we still have a tradition we can't use. If the tables were turned they would have filibustered their heads off.
