Democratic measures deserve an "up or down vote"
A lot of Democratic legislation gets bottled up in committee and never gets an "up or down vote." Even when it is all but certain that a Democratic measure would pass (because of cross-over votes from moderate Republicans), the Republican House and Senate leadership keeps the measure from getting an "up or down vote." They want to make sure that the only legislation that gets an "up or down vote" is far right legislation passed on party lines. Don't we owe it to the American people who elected Democrats to represent them to give their views an "up or down vote."

What could be fairer than an "up or down vote?" Man, I sure wish Bush would parrot "up or down vote" about a thousand times for the poor citizens he deprives of any representation at all.

1. Something to write a Democratic Senator...
I'll get on that for the next time a Senate Majority leader starts up with that mantra.

3. for that reason alone i opposed the 'compromise'
i was hoping some business on legislation, some discussion of the real problems Americans (of all stripes) are facing today would be dealt with seriously in the Senate ... for a change ... if the Senate came to a standstill on the filibuster/nuclear option/ 5 fu ing judges and a few other enormous egos, and instead dealt with the millions of others in need instead of that one issue of delivering the *moron his latest whim, or not.

i guess i had a different 'big picture' in mind.
