Why won't DU Admin delete a certain post?
I sent my donation with a promise to double it if the DU administrators would remove a thread from the archives that I've asked them to take down dozens of times over the past two years, and yet when you google my name, there it still is.

I wrote it one night when I was terrified and half drunk, I felt like I was protecting myself at the time, now here's all of my personal information and a big personal drama available to anyone who searches for me by name. This phantom post keeps me from sending out press releases, doing interviews about my websites, etc, out of fear that people will find out too much about me based on the contents of this particular thread. It's stifling my career.

I see entire threads deleted from Democratic Underground night and day. I have literally said to skinner, et al, "I BEG OF YOU TO REMOVE THIS POST." And yet months and years later, it's still there.

Can anyone give me some insight or advice on this matter?

2. That's cool, what difference does it make now?
That's why I never brought it on to this board before, but y'all are family to me so I don't care.

3. The best way to do this is to use the alert link
at the bottom left corner.... don't know if exists, though in the archives.

Alternately send email through the contact us link at the bottom of each page.

Good luck

4. Not very smart to call attention to that post -
if you want the DU administrators to remove said post, sent them a PM. Don't advertise it for everyone, unless of course, you have an ulterior motive.

8. Only motive is to get it deleted. PMs & Emails & Donations didn't work
This is a last resort kind of thing. Believe me, I never wanted to bring it back to the board.

10. Were you given a reason by Skinner?
I'd like to know why it hasn't been deleted yet after all your efforts.

15. Try again, as a separate email
not tied to donation or to anything say in the subject matter:

Please delete post

admin@democraticunderground.com

You will get a reply following this route. And then as suggested, delete this thread.

18. I've done that many times
Edited on Mon May-23-05 11:31 AM by LeighAnn
The post is still there.

On edit: Why would they delete this thread, when they won't delete the original?

17. Why don't you just PM a moderator and give the location of the post?
Discussing this in a public forum is going to put a post you say you want deleted from months or years ago back into the public eye. Send me a PM if you like, I'll follow up right now.

5. If you wouldn't have posted this...we wouldn't have known about it.
Maybe you should think about deleting this thread? Just a question? How would anyone find that particular post without you telling them it existed? Would it be something that could be googled?

20. LeighAnn,
Our posts are picked up by Google, and unfortunately, once it's there, it's hard to eliminate. There's www.wayback.com too, that tracks back to the beginning.
If it goes to a link, the link can be removed, but if the cached version is stored at Google, I doubt that it ever really goes away:(..

14. Would love to laugh about it, but it's got my full name and home address
If they could just edit out that part, I could live with the rest of the thread.

12. As if you're the only one who posted while intoxicated around here?
No, that never happens on DU! :eyes:

And yes, why exactly did you just tell all 70,000 of us all over again that this thing exists now?

16. It was the day I put HannityIsAMoron.com online
Edited on Mon May-23-05 11:28 AM by LeighAnn
Suddenly I had, I think, four police officers at my door without a warrant telling me they were going to kick my door down if I didn't let them in.

On edit: I misunderstood your question. Why I tell you now is because nothing else has worked. Hoping maybe some DUers have some advice, or otherwise maybe and admin will come along and take pity. Here, I'll hit the alert.
