Galloway to visit US Universities?
A contact in UK has just called to say that Galloway, who is his local MP, is being asked to speak at our Universities. Anyone know anything about this?

1. "Galloway to visit US Universities?"
Today's Sunday Times mentioned it

http://news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=560212005">Here

I wonder if he's going to bother actually representing the people who elected him in BG&B as a constituency MP.

2. Im sure he'd love the opportunity
but he has an obligation to the needs of his constituents so I dont think he would have the time for a full lecture tour,

maybe just a few one off appearances.

3. UK Parliament has a four-month summer break
when it doesn't "sit". Galloway could probably fit in a lecture tour between two constituency "surgeries", so his constituents would not really be disadvantaged.

4. It shows how hungry we are for some political honesty.

It is amazing that this guy can come over here to "clear his name". Make total mincemeat of our politicians. And he is instantly in demand of our Universities. Makes you realize how many here know we are being lied to night and day. I'd love to see him on with Hannity or any of those other Bozos.

11. Probably
I'd say he's probably going to a few big universities. I think it's great! Spread the word Galloway!

6. The neo-con talk show pundits have already been using the "C"
...word with regard to George Galloway's political sympathies. I'm not sure which other RW hosts have embraced this reference, but I heard Neal Bortz interviewing a guest on Friday (not sure who it was) and they spent 30 seconds inferring Galloway's communistic sympathies by shear extrapolation of his being from the left wing of the British Labour Party in the UK.. I mentioned that I heard that piece of McCarthyism slur, and several people said the heard that on other shows also.

The Re-puke propaganda machine has been put into high gear. I hope that before Galloway begins any road trip speaking tour in this country that he be aware of this activity and be prepared to address these further attacks. Here is one I just found on the internet:

<snip>
Galloway's comic relief
Emmett Tyrrell (archive)

<snip>
Galloway seems unaware that modern America does not feel much sympathy for left-wing subversives. Moreover, with the publication of documents from the intelligence archives of the Soviet Union, it is clear that many of those leftists and Communists from the past really were engaged in subversion for Moscow. The "Red Scare" was a Red Reality. As to how effective this master of British parliamentarian style was before the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, consider this. After Galloway proclaimed his innocence and denounced President George W. Bush's Iraqi war as the result of a "pack of lies," Republicans and Democrats came to amiable agreement for the first time in months. As the ranking Democrat on the committee, Sen. Carl Levin, put it, Galloway's performance was "not credible." Levin, like Galloway, opposes the war.

10. Exactly, in fact I listened to Galloway's 47 minute testimony....
...this last time here at home today where I could turn it up full volume, off the BBC site. Both Coleman and Levin could be easily transported back in time to those McCarthy UA Hearings, and their questioning and parsing for entrapment yes/no answers from Galloway would fit right into the black listing and commie baiting of the 1950's and 1960's.

Did Levin really vote both times in the Senate not to go to war with Iraq before March 19, 2003? I can not find that anywhere. His voting record in the 108th Congress does not show a war vote before March 2003.

14. He didn't vote for the war
To his credit. But he was an ass in that hearing. "Would it bother you?" "Would it bother you?" etc

8. Is there really NO-ONE over there in the US
who is willing to stand up and say the things that Galloway said? Out of all the tens of millions of Americans who know that what he said is the truth, is there no-one at all in politics on the left who is willing to be honest?
Really, I'm not knocking anyone (after all our own PM is a spineless jerk), I'm just wondering...

12. Expect a giant smear campaign if he does come here...
I expect the Horowitz campus watch people to go totally
crazy if he does.

Check here for the first what is to come for Galloway.

16. May, I would buy a ticket. That's for sure
He needs to go on the lecture circuit.

We could use some direct and frank rhetoric in this country.
