Maybe they should be looking for guards from gitmo ?

Local libraries find many books urine-stained
Thursday, May 19, 2005
John Horton
Plain Dealer Reporter

Rows of urine-stained books have been found in two local libraries.

Workers discovered the soiled volumes on the shelves of Aurora Memorial Library in Portage County and Geauga West Library in Chester Township. Hundreds of books -- collectively valued at several thousand dollars -- had to be discarded, officials said.

The problems at Geauga West started in January, Yanko said. About once a month since then, staff members have stumbled upon newly soiled areas within the collection. The most recent find occurred this week. There's no pattern to the vandalism.

Aurora's troubles began more than two years ago. Defiled books have been found sporadically ever since, said Pamela Hickson-Stevenson, director of the Portage County District Library.

2. Clearly this story is responsible for . . .
The massive anti-American riots now happening all around the world. Library lovers from Nova Scotia to Vanuatu have taken to the streets, causing much loss of property (and lives, like we care), because some irresponsible news organization carelessly reported that such a thing took place.

Shame, shame, shame.

All liberal employees of the Plain Dealer should be fired and their posts taken by reliable republicans, who are unlikely to commit such a sin against America.

3. I wonder
if there's a pattern to it...all science, or all novels, or all history, or just a bunch in a row on the shelf.

6. could be rats? other unwanted pest?
rodents have pissed all over some books we were storing in the garage long ago. they'd find one area where they'd sleep, one area where they take material for their bedding, and then find some area to go potty in. and where they'd pee and where they'd poo wasn't always the same.

but i'm assuming they know this is human urine (i don't know how, but i assume they did tests). if so, that's just... odd. if it's just vermin though, there's ways to relocate the buggers.

12. So this is the Freepers' theme & variation on Book Burning American Style
How imaginative. How desperate. How futile. How idiotic.

Destroying books doesn't destroy the ideas inherent in the desecrated pages. And the Freepers with the roving bladder will inevitably pay to replace the destroyed books through their municipal taxes.

13. People who don't respect books have no respect for anything
I don't care if they are diet books or what not...but to descrecrate books in a callous manner seems just inhuman.

16. Exactly

People kept saying "So what? It just paper and ink." when they were talking about the Koran desecration. Books are ideas even if you disagree with the ideas, it's barbaric to destroy books.
