Vendyl Jones and the Ark of the Covenant
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=82226
Various Paragraphs:

"An unnamed Kabbalist has granted blessing to famed archeologist Dr. Vendyl Jones to uncover the Holy Ark of the Covenant. Jones plans to excavate the Lost Ark by the Tisha B’Av Fast this summer."...

"The explorer and teacher published a book in 1959 predicting the precise outbreak of the Six Day War, based on his analysis of the period from the Exodus from Egypt up until the First Temple Period. He says that applying biblical analysis to modern times points to major events that will “turn the world right-side-up.”"....

"“1967 was a repetition of Kadesh Barnea,” Jones says. “If Israel had come in and taken this place, the Arabs would have fled like they did in 1948. But no, because of the evil report of Golda Meir and Motta Gur and Moshe Dayan, who said ‘We cannot do that, world opinion will be against us.’ So Israel was sentenced to 38 years more – and June the 7th <2005>, Jerusalem Day, will be the 38th year.

Jones believes that the Jewish prophecies regarding the greatly anticipated redemption are occuring in front of our eyes."...

I think its a very interesting theory and also find it interesting that so many rumors and "prophesies" that have been buzzing around on various sites site June 7th. Everything from asteroids to Matreiya's worldwide appearance.

Curious as to what DUers think.

2. A google on Vendyl Jones...
...will tell you a lot more than this carefully cherry-picked piece of BS.

He's considered a rank amateur as an archeologist, and the Israeli government accuses him of ruining archeological sites with his bumbling.

He's the lunatic who used to go digging for the ashes of the "Red Heifer." And if he finds it, Jesus will return immediately in a blaze of fire. Or something like that.

And here's a surprise! He believes that Texas Xians, not Jews, are really The Chosen People.

3. Wasn't it removed by the Knights Templar centuries ago?
The later Gothic architecture of European churches was apparently based upon writings contained in the ark.

4. what puzzles me about these prophecies
is that why would something as huge as the end of the world, blah blah, involve really just a handful of people in Israel? Most of the people in the world don't even know where Israel is. Wouldn't earth ending prophecies have come instead to the Chinese? Or the huge populations in India? Seems kind of bizarre that a god would create a beautifully diverse planet, then only give warning messages of doom to one very, very small group of jews and RW fundies. Seems the ultimate in arrogance and narcissism.
