1. He insulted a Senator?
Boo frickin' hoo.

They say he was aggressive and didn't adjust his manner to comport with American political style in the way he addressed the committee.

No, shit. He cut through the crap.

10. He didn't adjust his manner? You mean his nose didn't turn brown.
Charlie Rose, you are so waaaay out of your league with Galloway. Why don't you grab your toys like Coleman did, and go home.

2. Despite MSM spin, Galloway kicks butt with the truth.
Edited on Tue May-17-05 10:58 PM by countmyvote4real
I like this guy. As AbbeyRoad has noted, he cuts threw all the crap talking points tossed at him by his interviewers and interrogators. Truth might be in the eye of the beholder, but facts are facts. They can be ignored, denied and dissembled, but when you get back to the raw facts you will find that Galloway speaks the truth.

It’s no wonder he’s being criticized for his style. MSM can’t handle the truth.

On edit:

If you are interested in this rare discussion (in the US) get a transcript of this program. Highly recommended.

6. WE Can't Handle The Truth..
to paraphrase Jack Nicholson. At least the Corporate Media can't. I was wondering how his testimony would be spun.

7. Thanks for the heads up, it comes on here a little later, I will avoid it
seems like we have reversed places, the Brits used to be viewed as staunched, straight laced people, and the Yanks were, plain spoken folk...how much has changed.

8. Galloway easily handled Rose
Rose was reduced to saying "A lot of ...wise...people have said, after returning from Iraq, that the Iraqis, while they don't like the occupation, also don't want us to leave."

Galloway's response?

"These are your journalists who only go to the green zone and a few other of the very few restricted sites. But it's not true."

Rose tried to get Galloway to say that Grand Ayatollah al-Sistani was a puppet, because Galloway had called the Baghdad compradors a puppet regime (which they clearly are). Galloway said, "Well, yes. Sistani has allowed himself to be used by the US. But he has assured his people that voted for the Sistani bloc that the occupation would be over quickly, and this is one of the main reasons they voted in such numbers. But the occupation will not be over quickly, and so you'll see many more peeling off to Moqtada al-Sadr, and Sistani will have to pull back his position as perpetual occupation looms."

Rose was left slackjawed and defenseless, reduced to the slander "Is that what you wish to happen?" (the clear implication being that Galloway wants more chaos and destruction, a usual slander in the American press to anybody who takes a clear-eyed view of the situation unfolding in Iraq). Galloway did not budge:

"What I wish is beside the point. That is what is happening. We predicted...etc. (on to his four points from the hearing today), and that is what has happened. It's not a question of wishing, but of seriously assessing the situation without spin."

Natch. Any middle-of-the-roaders who saw this perfomance may not be convinced of the anti-war position, but they could not failed to be chilled to the bone by the prospect of endless war and the seriousness and facts that Galloway brought to the table.

9. Well after this interview, you can tell whose side Charlie Rose is on.
He thinks he may be on America's side but he's not.

11. My take
Rose (one of the reputed intellectual and moderate TV reporter who actually fits the mold of many NYT/Wash Post columnists who seem reasonable but actually support the corporate model) was throwing a bunch of questions to Galloway to try to find holes. None. It was a total squash. Galloway just flattened every point that went against him. Really refreshing to see brutal intelligence without any stumbling or any slight apologizing that weakens any crucial points.
