"The Byrd Option"?
Mitch McConnell used the term "The Byrd Option" in the course of answering one question on Fox News Sunday. This means that their propaganda machine will be using their too often used lie that "They did the same thing" or "They tried to do the same thing", by renaming their "Nuclear Option", "The Byrd Option". Expect to hear this term used often in the coming weeks.

15. they are re-framing,,,,,
The lying senate repukes went into a back room and discussed how to re-frame the unfortunate term nuclear option and how to get the smell off of Frist. Brilliantly, they came up with "Byrd Option".

You have to give it to these guys, they have taken smearing and lying and mud-raking to new level.

I am praying and waiting for Byrd's response.

20. Exactly
It's their new talking points. They didn't get a good response from people when they did the whole "Justice Sunday" ordeal and from recent polls people are on the democrats side so now they're renaming this because of Mr. Byrd's past. Go figure. It's to make it seem like the democrats really are against "people of faith" (which is total bullshit) and they don't have the vote's they need so they have to reframe the debate.

19. It doesn't matter if it's been debunked or not
I wrote a long blog about two weeks ago on here (that I still have on file in my computer) about the language war and how:

1: We are losing it badly; and
2: We're losing it without putting up a fight.

here it is:
LOSING THE LANGUAGE WAR

The response was that it's hard to do when Rove takes the wind out of the room.

I contend we lost it years ago when we didn't challenge conservative definitions of words and phrases in socio-political thought.

Read it. Maybe then people won't think I'm crazy.

21. Yep
Remember recently last week when they were having this discussion he used the Bible? He also said "I'm a born-again as well but I don't like to talk about it that much." So they are targeting him for that purpose. Also he made Frist to look like a jackass when Frist so rudely left him when he was still talking (of course Frist did that to himself when he left).

7. Does anyone remember the war over the term "second superpower"
.. Kofi annan had suggested it meant the power of public opinion. A huge battle ensued and turned the term into something else thereby undermining its usefullness.

I would say this is an occasion for "Robert Byrd" to do the same thing. Afterall this is his name so he should be able to define the term.

If we all help him we can head this grubby little effort off at the pass.

13. I just sent this to Mitch "the Sonuvabitch" McConnell
Dear Sen. McConnell.

I have but one thing to say to you after your ridiculous appearance on FOX News Sunday yesterday:

You DISGUST me!

I am shamed to live in this state after you whored yourself in front of the nation with bald-faced propaganda.

Calling the threats of a filibuster the "Byrd option"? Get a life and get a clue!

How many Clinton nominees were even kept from coming out of committee? How many attempts were made to filibuster Clinton nominees? I was no fan of Clinton after he lied to the Senate which led to his impeachment hearings but all efforts by the Democrats in the past and now and all efforts by the Republicans in the past have all been done under existing Senate rules.

To invoke the Trent Lott-named "Nuclear Option" now in order to put pro-business, pro-insurance company, anti-civil rights and anti-environmental judges. This filibustering has NOTHING to do with the "faith" of the judges.

I beseech you one last time to DO THE RIGHT THING and refrain from invoking the nuclear option.

14. classic up is down and white is black strategy
just like the terms "Clear Skies Act" and "Tax Relief".

Our elected officials, if not outright lying to us, are deliberately baiting and misleading us.

When will the impeachments begin? How long can it continue?

I continue to be amazed that Bill Clinton was almost impeached for having consensual sex. Does the majority of the American public feel that lying to protect himself and Lewinsky is orders of magnitude worse than the lying about national policy, killing of thousands, destruction of our national economy, that has been taking place?
