What do the fundies think about gambling?
I'm hearing alot lately about Americans becoming addicted to gambling, even college students. Gambling casinos contribute tax dollars to local communities, so I'm wondering if the silence about "gambling is a sin" is about $?

I've known Fundies who gambled.
Personally, I hate gambling, and I see its popularity today as a sign that our society is becoming increasingly decadent. Gambling is a corollary to the growing disdain for work in this country. How sad.

1. If Ralph Reed and Tom Delay Are Any Indication....
as long as American Indian Tribes are running the gambling then they are all for it.

2. William Bennet, the Godfather of Virtue, didn't mention it much
Of course, he was an addicted, high-rolling gambler.
A total hypocrite like all right-wingers.

4. In Minnesota if it lowers taxes or keeps them from getting raised
there is no problem. Just a silent turn of the head. All to keep Plawenty's "no new taxes" pledge to the "Taxpayer's League" (actually tax evaders league).

5. I was always taught . . .
gambling belonged to the same genre of sin as drinking, dancing, smoking, etc.

7. That's what I thought, donco6.
It must be nice to be able to pick and choose your sins, huh?

8. That's always been my point.
The bible is very clear - a sin is a sin. Any sin is worthy of hell. The "mortal" and "venal" thing is a Catholic doctrine the fundies despise. So why they overlook these things and only focus on some sins - well, I can surmise. The sins they focus on are sins committed by "other" people - gays, "loose" women getting abortions, people who don't go to church. That's how they view the world - "We're OK, but those other people better get their act shaped up!"

Classic hypocrisy.

6. When they do it, its innocent fun for a good cause...
When Liberals/Atheists/non-Christians do it, its an example of the moral
decline of our nation, and grounds for completely discrediting those who
participate.

Just a guess, of course. ;)

10. They probably realize (silently) that they have thrown
craps as far as leadership goes.... if they don't, I wouldn't back them in a game of dice, poker or anything else for that matter.
