How did the same state elect Al Gore and Bill Frist?
to Senate seats? It seems a bit inconsistent

1. eh, you need to take a few things into acount:
1-Time. Gore was last a Senator from TN more than 10 years ago.
2-The Senator Gore of the 80s is not the same as VP Gore, presidential candidate Gore, or rightful President Gore.

2.  a lot of states are like that
it comes down to personalities, election tides (94 Repub sweep), opponents.


Iowa elects Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley consistently, polar opposites politically.

3. Democrats turned into corporate whores.
So when the Republicans started playing the God card we had nothing to offer Tennessee voters. Republicans run populist campaigns in TN because it works but the DLC and corporate wing of the party have convinced people that you can't run a campaign based on economic issues in a low income state. Idiots.

they even have different state fairs for different parts of the state.

5. Al Gore was more on the conservative side then
Certainly not Frist caliber, but he was a conservative Dem. He's, thankfully, moved to the left fairly recently
