1. Explaination and Education
Heh.

Great question.

"So, with bases closing all over the country and most NG and Reserve units being deployed, how exactly is our homeland safe?"

2. Shhh! We're not supposed to bring that up. Someone might notice..
...that the homeland is not insecure.

3. Maybe we aren't really in danger
And they need the money to build the bases in Iraq.

6. Ding ding ding
It's the permanent Iraqi (and soon Iranian) bases that are important to these fuckers. Makes it cheaper to deploy troops and equipment for their future wars in the region.

7. Yep my thoughts exactly .....
Haven't had time to go look for the evidence yet but my gut feeling is the resources (troops, equipment, $) will be used overseas instead of here in the States. After all with Bush wanting to start wars ever where on the planet (Iran next) what good are bases in the States anyway? :sarcasm: They are not concerned with homeland security but global domination.

4. as Spinbaby pointed out...this may be a well plan ploy to make
some of the republicans who are in trouble look good in their home states...

First the republicans threaten to close bases...then the republican senators and congressmen will come out to "save them"..

When the campaign ads come out in 2006 they will say something like this...

"..When the Government sought to shut down Base XXXX....Senator Santorum was there to make sure that the base didn't close...he was there to make sure that we remain safe"...

note ...it will be the Government..not the republican run government...

pardon while I :puke:

5. The the "World's Greatest Superpower" cannot afford
Everything that the PNAC called for. Besides, they have been so good at bankrupting us, it got a little out of control. They did not want bases here, anyway. We are too lulled into submission already. Cannot vote our way out of it.

8. A better question might be: How did having some of these bases...
help homeland security?

9. They have already announced that the money saved will
be invested in modern warfare weapons to fight terrorism. Hear it on CNN.

So I gues translated from Bushtalk to citizentalk, that means more bases for Iraq and more money for more wars.

10. They no longer believe
that having a standing military at home is important. As we have seen, the prefer "pre-emptive" strike capability, meaning that they will just station troops across the world, and when somebody does something we don't like, we'll invade.

...for Bolton, for the nuke option, and for all the fundie judges and Justices.
They'll probably close it anyway, since Maine is a blue state, but
they'll string them along to try to get their votes.

The threat to Groton may get Lieberman to defect if he thinks that will save it.

12. There is NO NATION on the planet that can militarily attack the USA.
Such an attack would be seen by the US long in advance, and the other nation(s) would simply be wiped out.

The official US policy now is global domination, and that means US bases not in the USA, but in other people's nations, whether the other people like it or not.

14 permanent bases in Iraq. NEVER will the Iraqi people agree to that. But they're not going to get any say in the matter.

bush is planning new and expanded bases in such "democratic" nations as Uzbekistan, Azarbaijan, Egypt, Libya...and watch, Africa coming soon, I'll bet whatever you like on that.

It's nothing whatsoever to do with "terrorism" or "humanitarian" or "democracy"; in fact it's the opposite.

Hitler tried to do it. America is now trying to do it. As the Germans say; "Same shit, different asshole." America is already in 122 nations around the globe; there aren't many more left to go.

bush & his Cartel of neocons see American takeover of the globe as a "good thing"; for America (the Haves and Have-Mores, at least) and for the world. The problem is, the rest of the world disagrees.
