Why does Rumsfeld want to close Walter Reed?
My guess is that he, Bush, Cheney, and the rest of those chickenhawk motherfuckers don't like having all those pesky wounded soldiers so close to the neighborhood. They find the shattered bodies of our young troopers depressing to have around.

1. Naaaaah that wouldn't depress them....
It's too close to their glorified digs. The sight of those amputees is SO distasteful right before cocktail hour, no Republican wants to see that shit. Plus some people might actually expect them to visit the wounded once in a while.

2. They aren't closing Walter Reed
They're proposing to "realign it," combining functions with Bethesda Naval Hospital. Making one DoD Medical Center.

3. Don't be fooled by the term "realign".
The Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C would be CLOSED. Some of the hospital's staff and services would move to an expanded facility on the campus of the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

4. Whatever the reason, it is corrupt.
Bush, Cheney and the rest of the cowardly corporate cabal certainly don't give a damn about our wounded heroes. They have voted down money for vet care, and probably would put vets on the street if they had their way.
