Simple, quick question about Andy's situation.....
Edited on Thu May-12-05 09:11 PM by KzooDem
I was waiting until the great DU upheaval quieted down a bit to inquire whether additional funds are needed. Of course the target to cover the surgery was achieved, but I'm presuming there will be some post-surgical treatment regimen.

I'd be happy to step up to the plate again, but want to make sure that after all the brouhaha that the PayPal account is still open and able to accept donations. Can anyone verify?

1. I think the PayPal is working...but my donations have gone to his P.O. Box
JH will want more $$ down the road, so far as I know.

Here's the information. And thanks very much. What is below is copied from merh's sig line.

Send check or money order to Andy Stephenson PO Box 25624 Seattle WA 98165-1124 or via paypal Andy_Stephenson@comcast.net or Amazon @ http://tinyurl.com/bnu79 (pmail sfexpat2000 w/amount). 4. Thanks for the info...
I sent first donation via mail but will use Amazon this time (now that I know it's still accepting $$) since I think it's more immediate and will get the money in Andy's account quicker than waiting for an out-of-state check to clear.

5. Another quick question
For those of us who are writing a check to Andy - how to write the check?

I seem to remember Will Pitt, in a thread some weeks ago, saying that an account had been set up for this.

In short, my question is, do I make the check out to "Andy Stephenson" or do I need to write it to something like "Andy Stephenson Trust" or "Trust for the benefit of Andy Stephenson" or some such thing?

8. The check I wrote was made out to Andy Stephenson
To my knowledge, he has not set up a trust so I would make it out to him.

14. Yeah, I figured that's what most people were doing.
But I didn't want to ask until after the upheaval had died down. I made out a check several days ago, realized I didn't necessarily know the correct name of the payee, (I work in a law office, so I think about these things) sent off a PM to sfexpat asking the question, and then all hell broke loose. Understandably, I never got a response to the question, and it's Thursday, and I still have the check, and I knew Andy would still need more money in a few days, anyway, the $50,000 being only the cost of the surgery (and just watch, even that will end up costing more than estimated, after all the various hospital expenses, charged on an a la carte basis, are added up). So I thought I'd pose the question now.

24. The check is in the mail.
Thanks for the info.

And remember, folks - If you send a check, even though it may take a few days longer to mail and process the check, Andy gets the full value of the check (no processing fees deducted for the privilege of using paypal).

6. Good idea
I'm sure Andy needs more help for his medical expenses. Plus donating money to help Andy is way to give the middle finger to the "people" who disrupted this website and Andy's treatment this week.

10. Exactly!
When I donate this time it will be with a two-fold purpose, the primary one being Andy but the secondary one being a middle finger and a na na na, na na na, na na na good bye to the scum of the earth that tried their/her best and FAILED MISERABLY in their/her pathetic attempt to harm someone who stands head and shoulders above anything they/she could ever hope to be.

(I am ticked at the FEW/ONE, can you tell?, lol)

7. I haven't chimed in on this because of the shit storm.
I don't know Andy, but I do want to say two things about the whole situation and then I'm shutting up about it - I've been here a long time and I trust some of you because you've been around for years too and haven't wavered in your beliefs or run off in anger. If Will Pitt says it is true than I believe it because Will isn't just helping out a friend - he has put his reputation on the line. People don't just do that.

Two, what you people here have done reminds me of the true teachings of Christ - help those who are in need no matter what the cost.

Edited on Thu May-12-05 10:44 PM by lonestarnot
kid had a shit fight with another kid in the back yard just last weekend while he was on pooper scooper detail. A turd flew over the fence and onto the neighbor's patio while he was outside sweeping (had just finished cleaning) Kid came in and told me what had happened and even though I presumed the guy to be a repuke, I made him (my kid)go appologize. All three of the kids went and appologized. Then the dude and I started talking. Turns out he's a no voter... Doesn't even know we have a turd for .....in the oval office. Nice ending. So much for a shit storm. Andy...hope your feeling up to reading...Some good came out of the shit storm dude!

11. I have a bad story to tell now
Edited on Thu May-12-05 11:08 PM by Rex
I and two cousins would go over to another cousins house (we were all about 7 or 8) and beg him to come play football. No matter what team he was on or how he played, he would always end up falling in my grandmother's yard and...yes...dog shit. It would happen, every time and he would get up and run home crying while we rolled on the ground (probably in dog shit) and then had china berry fights!

I miss those days now.

12. Amazon accepts money,too
And I haven't heard of any proiblems with them as there have been with PayPal's refusing to release the funds. I don't have the tiny ulr that several DUs slaved to created, but the following will do:

Thanks for thinking of this.

17. Amazon said my $100.00 donation was too great an amount -
and wouldn't take it, but $50.00 went through fine.

Can someone check on their donation limit - and report on it?

Thanks & the very best to you, Andy.

21. Yes, more money is needed
Remember the movie Joe vs the volcano, well this is Andy vs the
tumor, the surgery was postponed because of several snafus, that have been straightened out, the outcome was all that paperwork that Andy posted the other day, he's staying with me until after the surgery which is now scheduled for end of the month but he's on "stand by" and they will move him up if they can. The $50,000 covers the surgery, but does not include the $7,000 for the surgeon and there is $1600 for the test he had to have done so they could
schedule him for surgery. I just talked to him and he said that it
was okay to post this. He's staying with another DU'er for the weekend, so I guess I could say he's at an undisclosed location but he'll be back at the dust bunny palace on Monday.

23. Hey, we're all taking care of him
I remember when I was back in school way back in BC (that's before color TV's for those weak in history), there was a picture of George
Washington crossing the Delaware in my classroom. George Washington
looked like he was ready for a casual stroll but I remember all those
guys who were actually rowing the boat. How they were straining every muscle to reach that other shore. That's us, we're all rowing to get Andy through this mess.
