Army recruitment: Why aren't Robertson and Dobson backing our Crusade?
Edited on Mon May-09-05 04:03 PM by Cyrano
These guys are all for "death to the infidels." So how come you never hear them telling their "Christian" flocks to go be Christian soldiers?

Just asking. Heaven forbid there should be any hypocrisy coming out of their mouths. As they keep reminding us, the words they speak come directly from Jesus.

1. Probably because it has nothing to do with the gospel
and everything to do with getting oil. The problem though now is that George W. has turned Iraq into a terrorist state. If things were somehow different, the troops would have been home a few years ago.

2. Reference Unclear
When you say "it" has nothing to do with the gospel, do you mean Dobsen's and Robertson's broadcasting/flim-flamming empires, or do you mean the war?

Either way, of course, you'd be correct.

Why the heck isn't the army running recruitment ads on 700 club or CBN or whatever they are 24/7?

OK, I'll admit. They might be. I wouldn't even know where to find that crap on the TV, so maybe they are. If so, the ads apparently aren't very successful at getting the wingnuts down to the recruiting offices.

3. I'll say it.
Because their churches are full of rich white people.

Even if they were to do this, they'd just start visiting poor churches to do it.

6. If these people were to visit poor churches,

it would only be to gather as much loot as they could carry away.

Calling Robertson and Dobson "Christians" is like calling Torquemada merciful. Sorry, but these self-appointed "Christian Leaders" are just two con artists who are into it for everything they can scam out of the poor, the ignorant and those who don't get it and never will.

By their very nature, they are "Christians for War," which makes them, not only a contradiction in terms, but places them among the worst kind of opportunistic hypocrites that walk the earth.

4. Excellent question- there should be recruitment pamphlets
available in these churches alongside any other handouts.

5. Good Idea
Anybody here willing to stomach a few Sundays in church with these people? Bring a pile of recruitment pamphlets and quietly leave them at the front with all the "Why homos are evil and responsible for abortion and global warming" pamphlets.

7. Bad idea. These fine, upstanding "Christians" would lynch you on the spot.

8. Well, I didn't say do it in front of them
Do it when no one's watching. Slip out to go to the bathroom during the service or something. . .
