Nominating John Bolton is a slap in the face to the United Nations and the world's diplomatic core. I'm sure that's the reason that Bush nominated him instead of a good diplomat. Why doesn't Bush just propose that we get out of the UN? I'm sure the neocons would love it.

1. No -
better to have a disruptor in there - the neocons want control over everything and what they can't control they'll destroy. John Bolton may be sent to the UN to destroy it.

4. That would appear to be the plan...
given their history...

But to me it's like someone who starts an anti-anything website...why would you spend so much of your time on something you hate???

2. bush is about power and control. getting rid of the UN means he owns the
wordl, or runs it, or is in charge of it --- and that is what he wants. after all... too much of a democratic way of doing things and looking after peace (and he is looking for wars) go around at THE UN.

the stupid ***hole can't stand for anyone to stand up to him because he must have power and control and, because he is AFRAID to stand up right back to them...therefore marabunta bolton can do the do-do job bush is too coward to do.

3. He needs Bolton to manipulate the UN. Bolton's job will be to force
the UN to write a resolution condemning Iran for it's nuclear program (you know the program Saint Ronnie and Poppy Bu$h insisted they start). The security council will veto the shitty resolution and aWoL will say "See the UN leaves us no choice but to go it alone!"

We have to say now and loud no to the Invasion of IRAN.

6. One guess...
The same reason that they cut taxes, but don't cut social programs. If they came right out and did the things they want, it would mobilize too many people against them.

They can continue to undermine the things they hate, allow them to rot from the inside, then it prevents a lot of people from realizing what's REALLY going on. Until it's too late.

7. I think this is right
Could they really line up the votes if they actually propsed doing some of the stuff they'd like to do? They couldn't, so they would fail to accomplish their goals and they would look like chumps to the American people.

8. Because they want to destroy it, not leave it
Bolton will have the exact opposite effect, of course. It will probably strengthen the UN one hundred fold.

10. If bush were to withdraw the US from the UN they couldn't destroy
it. What the bush cabal doesn't understand due to their myopic view of the world, ie US only, is that they might destroy the UN as is currently exists only to find an world organization arising in which the US is expressly excluded from participating.

12. Because the UN could be a very valuable tool once it is brought
into line with the neo-con agenda.

13. Because most people
want us to stay in the UN. Even around the peak of the pre-Iraq war Propaganda phase, a Fox News poll of all things had most people disagreeing with the specific Iraq policy, but it was at least 2 to 1 to stay in the UN.
