Let's all say a prayer for Tom Delay.

In response to the people that want to pray for Tom.

Tom Delay deserves our prayers. No really. The most extreme and powerful anti-environmentalist, and bagman for the tobacco industry in America does actually need the collective prayers of Democratic Underground. Before I give the benediction however, we are going to need a quick background of “The Hammer”, as he is known in the beltway.

· In just one year Mr. DeLay introduced eight bills to repeal or alter the Clean Air Act of 1990, as a matter of fact, when asked if there were any federal regulations he would keep, he replied “Not that I can think of.”

· When He isn’t out making stupid statements like “The EPA is the Gestapo of America,” and “Families trying to make a living on minimum wage don’t really exist,” he is trying to pass himself off as a scientist. He claims the moniker because through an intense system of daily prayer he managed to be anointed with a BS degree from the University of Houston.

· He claimed Rachel Carsons book “Silent Spring” is a book of lies, as he took money hand over fist from the chemical companies that produced DDT. He more recently, claimed “The science underlying the CFC ban is debatable... it is the result of a media scare” in the face of a study where 250 scientists, with the support of over 200 more, proved otherwise.

· He is In lockstep with the NRA wanting to eliminate both the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapon Ban.

· Not only does he advocate tearing down the wall of separation of Church and State, he pushes for the destruction of the Department of Education and replacing it with private schools controlled by the Religious Right.

· Of course the Schiavo debacle brought his radical pro-life views, and wanton disregard for the decisions of “activist judges” to light. However, he has been just as active in attempting to deny rights to blacks, homosexuals and women.

· He claims our average tax rate is over 50% of our incomes.

· Of course he is the biggest proponant of eliminating Social Security, Welfare, Medicare, Food Stamps, and just about every other program that would help Americans before, during, and after retirement. Considers state regulated hospitals as communism.


So I propose the following prayer:

Our heavenly father, please allow Tom Delay to realize all the goals of which he has worked so hard over the years to achieve. Please allow your servants George W. Bush and Dick Cheney to smite Tom Delay’s bank accounts, to where there shall be not one piece of silver remaining. Please then allow his realizations of rugged individualism to be known, and cause a deadly, yet curable, disease to invade him where he shalt then be denied treatment for, because of his lack of money and medicare. Please O Lord, then let him serve his remaining day’s in intense pain and suffering in a state run hospital praying to you for someone to take his life and end his sufferring, but be denied that as that is against thy laws that I am pretty sure is written somewhere in the Bible. Please Lord let him realize all that he has struggled so hard for in your name, before he goes to you for his final judgement. Amen.

Now THAT’S a prayer I can live with.
