Will Andy S. be coming back to Seattle to recover?
If so, those of us in Seattle (and surrounding areas) ought to set up a food and caring group here. One of the few positive things I saw in my upbringing as a Southern Baptist was the community support through food and care shifts when a fellow church member was sick. I'm not Baptist anymore but I see no reason we local DUers can't do the same thing for one of our own. We've (nationally, even internationally. Yay, DUers rock!) shown that we can get the money together to get him his surgery so lets carry it on through.

So, can someone let me know if he is coming back here and about when so we can get this going? I'll be happy to coordinate this.

4. I have a million bad things I could say about the Southern Baptists
but this is one thing they are really, really good at. Having been a recipient as well as involved in the helping side, I have warm fuzzy feelings around this aspect of community.

5. Andy's initial recovery will be on the East Coast.....
The last he told me, he is planning to return to Seattle towards the end of May. That may change, of course, but as for now.

Your suggestion is a wonderful one and I am certain that any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

6. Wow, that's not much time at all!
Three weeks! He'll be needing more time when he gets back here unless he's the world's fastest healer. I have a suspicion that he's going to be raring to go sooner than he should. I hope we can convince him to be a man of leisure for a couple of months.
