Will Andy Have Visiting Hours at Johns Hopkins?
or elsewhere in Baltimore, for that matter? Would he appreciate DUers dropping by, or would it be too much under the circumstances?

Just asking. I'm in Baltimore several times a week, and I know there are lots of other DUers in the Wash-Balt corridor. Would love to meet Andy and add personal support to the donation. But I completely understand if it's not the right situation.

Please forgive if this was discussed over the weekend. I couldn't find it on a search.

1. If it were me in Andy's condition, I wouldn't want too many visitors.

He'll more than likely be on a lot of pain medicine or asleep most of the time. Probably only close friends and family. I gather there may be one or two DUers to visit a time or two that he is close with and I am sure they'll report back to the rest of us on his condition.

2. OK, That's Cool
I'm not up on Andy's schedule or prognosis during his stay in Maryland. Just wanted to find out.

3. Andy will be exhausted and groggy for at least 24 hours
after the surgery. Generally speaking, most people don't want visitors for at least 48 hours: they just feel too miserable.

Andy has a laptop in the hospital: send him messages through DU or his e-mail, or send cards. He'll let us know if he wants visitors or calls.

Please, if anyone does go visit, don't stay more than 15 minutes. If you've ever had major surgery, you'd understand this.
