I voted for Bush on morals, but side with the Dems on the budget
This is what a CSPAN caller just said.

Does anybody else see the HUGE disconnect here? Wouldn't the budget reflect your values?

Health care? Housing? Food assistance? Education? Child care? Jobs programs? Protecting Social Security?

Wouldn't helping ensure people are healthy, have somewhere to live and food in their bellies be the ultimate expression of solid moral values? How can a return to the Gilded Age even be thought of as moral?

And, how can Bush and his crew even win on so-called morals? They're not any more moral. I can point to countless GOP members who have lied, stole, cheated on their wives, had babies out of wedlock.

2. Logic Is Not Their Strong Suit
It's easy to be inconsistent when you don't really think beyond platitudes and beyond 2 dimensions. Makes life much simpler that way.

Then they can think a silverspooner who cheated his way through college, screwed partners, employees and investors out of millions (TWICE), participated in questionable campaign tactics by lying through his teeth, fell asleep at the switch on 9/11, and then attacked the wrong country costing 10's of thousands of lifes, is a moral man.

A little depth of thought is all that's required to see the duplicity. But, for them, that's too much like work.

4. She makes perfectly good sense to me. The Democrats ARE
good for the economy; but the Republicans provide MORAL LEADERSHIP, which brings us illegal wars and the subsequent murder of tens of thousands of innocent people who, if allowed to continue to live, might turn into "terrists."

Remember, what's good for the Carlyle Group is good for America.

6. morals is all about sex to people like that
it has nothing to do with compassion, tolerance or charity.

That is the great disconnect of our times. We really do have different morals and values.

One thing we can start doing about it is to insist that we are NOT moral relativists. A relativist believes that morals are different for different people and in different circumstances. We do not believe that but they say we do. By calling us moral relativists they turn us into idiots who don't really have any morals at all. We need to stop it.

8. A budget is made up of moral choices.
That budget the caller didn't like is based on Republican-RW values and morality priorities.....what's to not understand?

Thats sounds like one of those sayings that Lewis Black points out to me. The one where a persons brain will just end up throttling itself after a week because you'll be thinking on it without even realizing it.

My brain is trying to comprehend "I voted for Bush on morals, but side with the Dems on the budget".

I'm still stuck on that first part, voting for Bush on morals.....what what what did you mean by morals? Does Bush even have any morals?

EDIT: had to fix it up a little

repukes have proven themselves to be FAR less moral. Most of them are amoral.

"Moralist" does not equal "moral."

11. these morals:
Edited on Mon May-09-05 09:33 AM by realFedUp
not wanting same sex couples to get the same rights
given to married couples?
and
lying about why a country is invading a weaker
one for its resources and location?

or is it this one:
killing hundreds of thousands and letting hundreds
of others die for one's agenda?
or being complicit in having 9/11 happen, making
certain things didn't happen, in order to rile
Americans up in fighting the "other" for greed
and power?

or is it this one:
where no religion other than Christianity is
respected, paid tax payer monies to, or is dividing
this country for political reasons?

So-called morals are just conveniences for
Bush Inc. Take off your blinders, pull the curtain
back. Let's finally have some truth.

12. I don't have blinders on
I see this quite clearly. I just wish more people would. The thing is that the moral values you are speaking of affects them in very real, concrete ways, especially in the pocketbook.

How does whether two gay people getting married affect anyone but themselves?
