maybe Jesus Forgives mass murdering dictators, but I don't
some believers, the ones who have not found their centers, believe in 'automatic forgiveness'. the Lord will forgive you for anything, according to them. even a man on death row for killing children can technically find forgiveness from the Lord and save his soul from hell.

i saw a bumpersticker that said, 'not perfect, just forgiven'. it almost says 'i can do anything, any sin, big or little, and in the end, the Lord will forgive me'.

any junkie in jail can get religion and be redeemed for real, people actually do change, and sinners actually can become saints, it's happened millions of times. but abuse the Lord's gracious offer of forgiveness, and the Lord will hear of it.

1. I Wish I Believed In The Bible...
I would sleep better at night knowing that Bush and Company would get payback for the death of thousands in Iraq. Unfortunately I'm only spirtual and far from religious (yes there is a difference) and don't believe in Hell or other bull that religion uses to scare people into their churches.

I can only hope that there is some sort of judgement day and that they will have to face up to their crimes.

4. The bible is just a book
Look to the teaching of the world's great religous leaders. Look at what they said in their own words, not what someone else says they said.

BTW: Welcome to DU :hi:

6. forgiveness isn't automatic
It's basically a concept of rehabilitation. Anyone can be forgiven if they TRULY repent, if they truly accept the error of their ways. Pretending doesn't cut it, no matter how good a liar the person is. In Christian terms, ultimate forgiveness doesn't come from any of us as individuals. It is God's grace.

Your views are what dominate in our society today. We are not a society that forgives anyone. Our criminal justice system makes that clear. We throw people away and are the worse because of it. That is what has enabled the growth of a multi-billion dollar prison industry even as violent crime rates are on the rise. So you're in good company with the governors and voters who support the death penalty across the country.

7. maybe he does...BUT they need to first forgive others..
according to Prayer of St Francis...
pardoning others or forgiving others is how we obtain forgiveness..

bush had an opportunity to forgive Karla Tucker
given the demonization of any one who disagrees with bushevik corporat line and lies..then it sure sounds like they ain't in a real forgiving mood over at the occupied WH

http://www.prayerguide.org.uk/stfrancis.htm
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life."
