"Whether you like Jack Daniels mixed, straight, or on the rocks...
there is only one way to drink it. Responsibly."

This ad was just on the TV here. Question: I thought ads for hard liquor were verboten on TV, has this changed? Or is this disguised as a PSA? They were pouring the JD deliciously into a glass for the visual so it certainly looked like an ad. Just curious.

1. They used to be banned
But I believe either last year or the year before they were allowed back on the air. :hi:

3. They are allowed now.
And really most are not as over-the-top and just plain stupid as some of the beer commercials. The ads seem to be targeting a much more mature audience.

5. They should have ran a Stoli ad
During the Putin interview on 60 Minutes. Right after the picture of Yeltsin.

6. The ban was voluntary
Edited on Sun May-08-05 07:43 PM by ZombyWoof
Started in 1971 or so, but it was never an enforced ban, it was voluntary.

These days, there is a buck to be made and they poo-poo the voluntary self-enforced exile. Might as well. It isn't like beer and wine get people less drunk if they are so inclined.

7. That's what I heard.
It was a self-imposed ban by the beer and liquor industry.

8. Let's see, economy in trouble, people out of jobs, people in despair ...
... hey, I've got an idea! Let's run ads which remind people to drink alcohol. :eyes:
