Just saw the most insane thing I've ever seen on television
They broke into regularly scheduled programming to alert me that rumors of Jennifer Gardner's pregnancy have been confirmed.

I shit you not.

5. well, that is REALLY weird then
This country is REALLY down the tubes. I used to make fun of Tim Russert about the Greatest Generation, but hell they were if this is all they're going to be compared to. :(

2. Thank you Cornfield
for making me realize yet again that shooting my tv was a GOOD thing.
I swear my IQ jumped ten points just unplugging it.

The worst thing is many people will think that is news. :banghead:

8. Lead actress on Alias.
One of my favorite TV shows.

She's currently shagging Ben Affleck. They're engaged.

As for why you should care...I dunno.

But will they follow with breaking news like Michael Jackson isn't the father and the pope won't let her have an abortion and all the important things?

9. Cornfield...my husband saw this too!
I was sitting on the couch reading and my husband said, "Well they just broke the news that Jennifer Gardner is pregnant." We laughed and had a discussion about how absurd it was that this is news.

We're in Iowa too...

14. I don't think she's from Iowa...
...I've never heard that.

Some actors Iowa can claim: Ashton Kutcher, Annabeth Gish, Terry Farrell (Star Trek), Ron Livingston (Office Space), Hillary Swank.

...and I think James T Kirk is from Iowa!

We grow more than corn here, folks. :)

28. Riverside, Iowa is the future birthplace of James T Kirk...
the captain of the starship Enterprise.

According to the "Star Trek" series, Kirk was (will be) born in Riverside in 2233.

31. Yeah -- I'm moving to Riverside, IA
And they have a scale-model of the U.S.S. Enterprise, in the middle of the town, re-named U.S.S. Riverside. It's a WEIRD fucking place. Amish, Trek fans, hippie farmers, clandestine writers and your normal seed-hat-wearing small towners.

It has charm that Seattle can't touch...;)

I've never been there.

Does Riverside have a community of Trekkies who live sequestered from the rest of civilization...like the Amish? ;)

32. Reminds me of when I lived in DC & Norv Turner was coach
of the Washington Redskins. They were always interrupting to talk about rumors, or had the alert going across the top or bottom of the screen: WILL NORV TURNER BE FIRED?

At first I found it hilarious that this was so important it couldn't wait until the 11 o'clock news. After a while I wanted to call the damn station and tell them they were ruining my favorite shows.

the last few minutes of CSI! I recall that a CBS news producer got fired for interrupting CSI with news of Arafat's death. But if it had been something as important as Jennifer Gardner's pregnancy-who knows.
