i know more than a few rush heads and newt heads and delay heads and bush heads who are also pot heads. i call them HIGHpocrites. they smoke the herb, and support the war on drugs, for lack of a better term. i don't know exaclty how they justify it, but i'm sure they do somehow. i guess the fact that they aren't sitting in jail helps.

7. Absolutely, and I think they justify it by saying that

they can afford it and are not stealing, engaging in prostitution, or dealing drugs to support their enjoyment of drugs (it's not a "habit" to them, of course, that sounds too much like "addiction") and by saying it's not a habit and they "can give it up any time." A phrase, of course, uttered by virtually every addict who's ever lived.

As they see it, I think, the problem is with "those people" who don't know how to handle drug consumption and who are unable to afford drugs without stealing, whoring (male or female), etc.

Of course, the reality is that unless you grow your own, you are supporting criminal activity in some way, not just because selling marijuana is illegal but because of all the secondary criminal involvements of the dealers and, more particularly, of their suppliers. If you're buying from a buddy, it may be his only criminal activity, but somewhere up the food chain are people profiting from prostitution, pornography (quite possibly including kiddie porn, snuff films, etc., as well as consensual posing by adult models.) The drug war's attempts to move on those crimes are good for society; too bad the law enforcement community spends time busting people for possession of small amounts, busting people who have doctor's Rx's for medical marijuana, etc.
