Asheville Citizen Times to have a story on-line (Waynesville church story)
Edited on Fri May-06-05 04:53 PM by G_j
and in tomorrow's print edition. Just spoke with the editor's office.
'They are working on it now'. Hopefully there will be additional details to add to the WLOS story.

keep checking on-line (should be posted by midnight or earlier):

http://www.citizen-times.com/

on edit: but don't expect too much, AC-T stories can be pretty lame.

1. This is great.

I heard the interview with one of the church members on Ed Schultz. A darling 78-year old woman named Selma was on the phone. She was lovely and articulate and calm--just perfect.

Edited to add: That's how I found DU, actually. As soon as she said the name of the church, I did a search and this board was on the first page. Greetings to all. Nice place you've got here.

19. Thank you...
for the warm welcome.

As for Selma on AAR, she said this pastor is wrong in what he's doing, and that his goal is to get rid of the older folks. She didn't mention whether or not she was one of the democrats who was asked to leave...though I missed the first few minutes of her call. She was calm and respectful, said she's been a member of the church for 30 years, and only the past 6 months has she ever experienced anything like this. The pastor is fairly new, having been there about 2.5 years. (This is probably all in the article, huh. I haven't read it yet...)

15. Are you kidding?
Hell, he'll probably be honored by some national church organization for standing up to Satan and doing God's work against the evil in the world.

Or some other such mindless bullshit.

25. I was trying to read up on that....
and just before my head exploded from reading IRS documents, I decided that it would be better to ask here. Is there anything in the 501(c)(3) rules that they have violated? I am not being a smart ass. I am seriously asking. Do churches have to let anyone be a member? This may not be as cut and dry as it seems on the surface. Any Tax Attorneys in the house?

8. Sorry to stray off topic
But I'm a new member too, and the other day when I posted my first post, no one gave me any love :( I want a welcome dammit. Actually, I don't really care. I've been hanging around here for awhile, but never bothered posting until the other day. I agree with pretty much everything I find here, so keep up the good work fellow DUers.

21. Chan Chandler
You know.. before I saw the phone number for his church on here, I tried locating it on the internet white pages.

All I could find was his home number and address.

I wonder if he's getting bombarded there too?

Hopefully he will resign in disgrace by sun up tomorrow!
