Immigration from the Americas: What is to be done?
Close the borders? Open the borders? Increase enforcement?

What is to be done?

1. go after employers
a night in jail would make them rethink hiring illegals off the books to avoid paying minimum wage.

4. Just one night?
Or stiffer sentences and fines? What about people who employ illegal immigrants as nannies or housecleaners? How much should go into the enforcement budget to implement this tack? If other programs have to be cut to pay for it, which ones should they be?

8. Easier to find employers than chasing people through tumbleweeds
so probably cheaper too.

Frankly, I know neither is going to be done because rich people like cheap labor.

The real approach is make wages and living conditions south of the border tolerable instead of trying to reduce them to a plantation.

2. I think that
Americans should be allowed to immigrate from Bushovia to any country they want: Canada, England, France, wherever.

7. Open immigration all throughout the Americas...
IMO emmigration should only be strictly controlled from overseas.

9. Create a union like europe has; it's working great there... people can
easily move among the member nations wihout penalties.

We're in a migratory world now. This hemisphere should catch up. We can surely be as civilized as europe!
