Every Republican I talk to will admit their leaders are corrupt
but only after I say Democrats are also. They feel all sides are corrupt so they just want to be on the winning side. If they will admit there is corruption there is an opening for rational thought. Somehow we need to capitalize on this.

1. Ideologues must go. We need people willing to form consensus.
We need leaders who represent all of their constituents.

2. That's it
Republicans don't care if people think that politicians are corrupt - in fact they are in favor of it. After all they are the ones who want to convince us to be ashamed that we have a government at all. Saying that government is corrupt just plays into their argument that politics isn't the solution to peoples problems.

3. divorcing parents, both at fault..........
my brother tried with a culture of this attitude, to get his daughter. 150k later and 7 years of pain for all......i told brother no, it is not both of you. you continually take the high road and get fucked. you dont lie, she does. you dont abuse, she does. you dont deny she does

sometimes, sometimes. it is purely one side

i refuse to take what you suggest, because the dems ran 2004 high hopes, integrity, they worked so hard to walk the higher. and people said, both sides. and it wasnt both sides. factual information proving wasnt both sides.

and i continually heard they are both doing, which allowed bush to continue. rove knows this. this is what repugs do. this is where the anger fizzles. when they can get dems to say both sides

5. That's how they justify it
"Well, all politicians are liars" or "All politicians are corrupt"

6. That is my experience, also, Bandit!
Put simply, they are sooo afraid to be "wrong". There's a lot of reason behind that fear.

10. i've had those conversations before
i won't admit the rest of the media is liberal, but there argument goes something like: why don't you just admit that if fox news is conservative it's only in response to the fact that the rest of the media is overwhelmingly liberal.

I always call bullshit, but the liberal media thing is so ingrained in them that no amount of evidence to the contrary convinces them. they'd sooner believe the sky isn't blue.

8. They are not really voting for the winning side...
so much as they are voting against their own long-term interests so that
the wealthy and the Religious Right may win.

I mean, what's the war in Iraq done for them lately? Its raised not lowered
the price of gas.

9. Lee Atwater said it best. His stragtery was to get Americans to
see their government as bad for them and not the big corporations.

"In the 1980 campaign, we were able to make the establishment, in so far as it is bad, the government. In other words, big government was the enemy, not big business ... If the people are thinking that the problem is that taxes are too high and government interferes too much, then we are doing our job."
