MA Democrat boycotts state convention because they are too liberal....
This oddly enough made me snicker a little tonight. With all the buffeting from the left this week, it just struck me how we can't win for losing.

http://www.sentinelandenterprise.com/local/ci_2710198

"Rep. Emile Goguen, D-Fitchburg, said he will boycott the Massachusetts Democratic Convention next week to protest a move by party leaders to endorse gay marriage as part of its platform.

Goguen said he has only missed about a dozen conventions since he first started going in 1956, but will intentionally avoid next week's issues convention in Lowell. Goguen is a staunch opponent of gay marriage."

"Party leaders are expecting between 2,500 and 3,000 people at the one-day convention, which will also feature speeches by U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy, National Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean, and three potential candidates for governor. Numerous candidates for statewide office are also expected to attend, along with most of the state's all-Democratic congressional delegation."

There is no way to please everyone, there never will be.

1. You know. . .the Republican party needs more homophobes.
Why not become a DINO and join our good pal Zell Miller? You don't like gay marriage. TOUGH FUCKING SHIT!

Who cares who they marry, sleep with or go out with? I certainly don't care!!!

4. I cannot endorse marriage discrimination. Other countries do not either.
Canada does not discriminate in giving out marriage licenses...and I don't see their civilization ending, or other wild claims made by the American Taliban.

The best argument I'v heard in favor of marriage discrimination...is that we'll win elections. If that is the best, then sorry, I can't endorse discrimination. Perhaps if we stopped using terms focus group tested by republicans, that would be a good start.

3. Goguen is an ass

and over 80 years old. Did I mention Republican in all but name.

He's the crazy old uncle of the family. No, we don't fully know why Fitchburg keeps on electing him- I guess if he switched or they elected an actual Republican, he wouldn't be able to get crooked pork barrel projects for his contractor and developer friends and get his ass kicked by a real Democrat.

Happily this contingent of "Democrats" is in general leaving the state legislature so fast for 'private sector' corporate whoredom jobs ever since their true leader Finneran bailed out in the face of a federal investigation that a new revolving door had to be installed.... Okay, just kidding about that last part. But Goguen is simply too old to follow that same route, so he's spending his time annoying everyone else. In the anti-marriage thing he has a clique of about ten pre-1994 Old Democrats who are also dingbats. And Finneran- it was announced today- has been charged with perjury to a federal grand jury about the way he redistricted some of his state House buddies and enemies in '02.

There they go, watch them fall, fall through the clouds.... (Peter Gabriel song)
