The evolution of a fight to the end
In Kansas, God and science are going toe to toe again

Defenders of Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection are boycotting four days of hearings — beginning Thursday — over the science curriculum in Kansas, where the state Board of Education is made up of a majority of conservatives critical of what they see as errors in the standard theory.

Mainstream science organizations spurned invitations to participate, dismissing the hearings as an effort “to attack and undermine science,” in the view of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, which publishes the journal Science.

The hearings, which run through Saturday and resume again on May 12, will resemble a trial. Three school board members will hear arguments from witnesses on both sides. The panelists — all three of whom have said they have doubts about evolution — will report to the full school board, which is expected to approve new science standards next month.

5. They didn't lose
they are just wrong. There was never fight - only in their minds. It's sort of like running headlong into a brick wall fifty times and then saying, once your face is covered in blood, "Well, I lost but it was a good fight".

11. Actually I'm Pretty Sure Fundies Have No Issues With Gravity
There is in fact a large monument to gravity on the campus of Wheaton Bible College. Which is part of the massive Billy Graham Center.

It is the oddest thing. A large granite block half sunk into the ground like it fell out of the sky and landed there.

Tried to google it and get an image. No dice.

Did find a paper by one of the profs there calles "Gravity: Rediscovering God's Weights and Measures".

8. These idiots don't know the definition
of a scientific theory:

A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena.

I can't think of any way to repeatedly test "intelligent design."
Let me see their research & published data.

20. Exactly
Nobody, I know of, has tried to prove this design. So why are they pushing for it? Until they can prove there is something to it it'll always be seen as mythology. I'm Christian and even I know that! Good grief.

17. This "trial" is a farce
The school board members who are judging it are all anti-evolution. They're just holding this "trial" so they'll have an excuse for putting religion in schools. They'll say they gave evolution a fair shake. Then the creationist movement will use this victory to enhance its own credibility elsewhere. It's really a travesty, and something has to be done about it.
