They printed my letter to the local paper today!
Edited on Sun Jul-13-03 01:38 PM by Ripley
I'm surprised, because they didn't call me to verify my name and address like they usually do before printing. Woo hoo!!

Dear Editor:

In response to Frank Brown's letter printed on July 8, I say HOGWASH! He believes it is patriotic to keep any criticism of Bush to "yourself" since our military is in harm's way.

Considering the fact that this administration is hell-bent on keeping the United States in a perpetual war (via Iraq and the "War on Terror"), this would mean no American citizen has a right to criticize this government, indefinitely.

That is a very UnAmerican idea. Our military men and women should not die on a daily basis without the Congress and American people questioning what our troops are dying for. Sadaam Hussein did not attack our country on 9/11/2001 and he clearly did not have the means to cause a "mushroom cloud over an American city."

Since Bush said "Mission Accomplished" how many soldiers have died? Since Bush said "Bring 'em on!" how many soldiers have died?

I recall our troops being in harm's way under Clinton's presidency and Trent Lott, the leader in the Senate, said "You can support our troops without supporting the President."

Are we now only allowed to criticize Democrats?

Some Free Country.

Sincerely,

(Ripley)

ON EDIT: This is a Dixie paper (Alabama) and the editors put this headline over my letter: "It's our right to question government."

4. The letters were getting way unbalanced lately...
That's usually when I sit down and tear one off! Plus, Frank Brown's letter was printed on my birthday, so it REALLY pissed me off! Hah!

I just remembered why they may not have called me...another DUer here knows the Letters Editor and said he was in the hospital for a severe appendix problem. Hope he's ok! But glad someone saw fit to print it and give it a good heading.

10. Great letter man! This is what I do on the streets...
These fucking so-called Patriots 90 % of them have not read the Constitution, what Hypocrisy. That's why I keep a pocket Constitution with me and go off like this.

"What you call your self a patriot but you have not read the patriot handbook the soul of our great nation the constitution"? A Freeper acting like a deer in headlights is right up there with watching girls gone wild. I then read the 1st Amendment out load. You think I'm joking? I really do this; it shocks the hell out of everyone within ears length and puts the freeper in a state of shock!!!!!!!!!!!!!
